Emergency Report for all staff:
Shard has escaped her facility and is in an unknown location on site. It is immediately advised that all workers regardless of rank enclose themselves in their respectable spaces and wait until the all clear is given by the Defense Administrator. Shard is prone to run rather than fight but we do not want injuries reported due to negligence to following the rules. Stay indoors, stay safe..

Dr. Allard sighed and collected his mug of coffee from the dispenser. He was in a hallway near his office when the report flew through everyone's communications bracelets. It had been the fourth time this Shard specimen had gotten out, and Allard was kind of tired over it. While he didn't mind being uninterrupted in his workspace for long periods of time--a rather helpful benefit of this escapee--It meant he had to wait to do anything ELSE.
Filing reports, calling other facility workers, and writing up new specimen documents only went so far when boredom was the enemy. On top of this, today was an easy day for him. The previous days had seen his section of the facility bombarded with work, only to have it suddenly cut off and drop to below the regular levels.
The last two days had been dull and listless. he'd gotten all his work done a matter of hours, and then was left to twiddle his thumbs hoping for more. His fellow employees had taken the time to visit with family and friends.
He didn't have either of those. Well, he did have friends, but they chose to do things he was not inclined to ever try.
"Give me a good mug of coffee or water over that swill they call beer in the pub." He muttered, looking down at his mug.Traversing the hallway, now filled with people running around like chickens with no heads, was difficult. He almost spilled his drink twice when he got shoulder checked by a soldier and another scientist trying to get through the crowd.
The scientist had apologized, but the soldier had sneered back at him. "Watch it nerd, the big boys got work to do."
He'd frowned but deigned not to grace the verbal insult with a proper counter. This seemed to displease the soldier who grumbled and continued on his way.
Reaching his door, he slid his card off his neck and swiped it through the security scanner. The door hissed open almost silently, allowing him into his sanctum. He groaned and stepped in, letting the door close before slouching and walking deeper into his room. The front section was his living quarters, a living room, a bedroom around the corner, and his office dead ahead.
On the coffee table was a clipboard left there by one of his fellows and he scooped it up, reading over the contents. He was halfway through his office door, when his foot kicked something across the floor. He blinked and glanced past the clipboard and found a bunch of screws on the floor.
"Huh? where did you...come...from..."
His eyes tracked the carnage of his destroyed office, from the torn open vent, to the taught wires of his computer, stretched and some dislocated from the hub. His eyes went farther up and found the most terrifying thing sitting across his desk top.
"....zzzz......zzzz.z..rrrrg.....zzzz"
he began to shake, keeping his breathing as calm as he could.
There was an alien sleeping on his desk. Not just any alien...A xenomorph...
He gulped. "Oh...shit.."
