Headphones - Confidence Boost

Arthur lounged back on the sofa, his fingers going through the muscle memory of scrolling endlessly through his apps. He’d open one, only to stare at it for a few seconds before closing it and starting the whole process again. It was the weekend, but he was bored out of his mind. Arthur was stuck, dulled and unmotivated. The coffee he had brewed earlier was sat on the counter growing colder. He knew he shouldn’t waste the time off work just sat around playing with his phone but doing anything else felt like too much effort. He knew he’d no doubt regret it come Monday.
The man’s fingers eventually landed on the app store, where again he began mindlessly scrolling. He considered downloading a new game to pass the time, but none seemed appealing. Running out of options, he landed in the self-help section, with thousands of apps promising to change his life or make him a better person. At the top of the page, one stood out to him, ‘Nu U!’, the logo in hot pink branding. It wasn’t rated yet, and Arthur realised it had only been added to the store moments before he opened it. Figuring that he had nothing to lose, he begun the download. If it was nothing special, at least it would have kept him occupied for a second, and at best it would help him build the confidence that deep down he knew he was lacking.
Within moments the app had downloaded, and he had opened it. ‘Headphones required for the best effect!’ came flashing text on the screen. While reluctant to make the effort, Arthur fumbled around behind the sofa and slipped his headphones on.
‘Hello. And welcome to the Nu U life changing experience’, came a clear, female voice in his ear, well-spoken and precise. ‘This is a series of self-help tips and affirmations, guaranteed to make you, a Nu U’, the voice continued. Arthur scoffed at the supposed ‘guarantee’ – he could see why the app was unrated.
‘You are confident. You are kind. You are popular’, the voice said softly. Arthur sighed. He had never been able to get into ASMR, and this app was no exception, the woman’s voice being more uncomfortable than relaxing. ‘Repeat it after me. I am confident. I am kind. I am popular’, the app demanded quietly. With a dry chuckle to himself, Arthur followed the commands, glad that no one was home to hear him. He felt silly, almost like he was humouring the app. ‘I am ready for a change, and I embrace it’, the app said, and Arthur repeated it, still continuing his semi-ironic charade.
Words briefly flashed across the screen. ‘Consent accepted – creating the Nu U!’
Arthur completely missed the text popping up. His eyes were closed, and he was trying his best to actually get into the app, despite his reservations.
‘You deserve the best that the world has to offer’, the app said. Arthur smiled softly. Even if it was meaningless, pseudo-positive waffle, it was at least making him feel a little better. ‘You deserve to live your best, most fulfilling existence’.
‘Lacking confidence is something that many people struggle with. But confidence isn’t taught – it comes from within yourself.’ Arthur was certain he could hear something else overlaid with the speech, a quiet whispering underneath the woman’s voice. He quickly unplugged and replugged his headphones, hoping it would solve it. For now, it seemed to vanish. ‘Confidence is something many women struggle with. But femininity can bring its own kind of confidence, one that Nu U can help to unlock’.
Arthur muttered underneath his breath. He should have known the app was marketed towards women from the bright pink logo, but in his boredom, he had completely overlooked it. He was about to close down the app when the whispering crept back into his ears once more, underneath the woman’s silken voice. A part of him wanted to shut down the app and find another, but he felt strangely compelled to keep listening. His hand moved safely away from the headphone jack as the voice pressed on.
‘For women like us, your hair is often the first thing that people notice about you. That can be difficult, especially if we’re having a bad hair day’. Arthur smirked. Even if this app was designed for women, he could definitely relate. It felt like he had been having a bad hair day for a month solid. ‘With a little effort, your hair can start to reflect the glowing, beautiful woman you are inside. It should be like a crown, shining, and getting the attention of everyone in the room’.
Arthur found himself relaxing deeper into the sofa. Without him realising, the app began to work its magic on his physical body. Slowly, his hair was growing – bright, healthy strands bursting from his scalp like flowers in spring. It was the same chocolate brown he was used to, but more vibrant than before, parted naturally in the centre of his head. The hair stopped growing once it touched to his collarbone.
‘If your hair is the first thing people notice, your skin is your first line of defence’, the voice continued, seeming louder now than earlier. A smile was slowly creeping to Arthur’s lips. Though his expectations were low, he was pleasantly surprised by the app. He truly was feeling more relaxed. As more affirmations and womanly advice poured into his ears, his skin began to change. The stubble across his face faded as if he was freshly shaved, and the hairs dotting his arms, chest, and legs shrunk and softened until it was like they were barely there at all.
‘And you should ignore what the media is saying about your body, girl!’ the voice said enthusiastically. ‘There’s nothing wrong with the size you are – you’re always told you’re too fat, too thin, but you’re the perfect size and shape for the radiant woman you are destined to be’. The words now seemed truer to Arthur than they did earlier, as if the woman was speaking directly to him. Even though he knew he wasn’t a woman, he still appreciated the motivation. He was surprised at how much he was enjoying the app. Even the mysterious whispering had vanished, or at least had now perhaps grown so common it faded into the background of the woman’s speech.
The bones throughout Arthur’s body painlessly cracked and reformed. His shoulders buckled inward, his hips outward. With a comfortable, blissful stretch, his hands and feet changed, slimming down. The few fat reserves across his body faded, his skin smoothed over the scant muscles he had once tried to build. His clothes were now baggy and loose, but Arthur was hardly paying attention, his mind focused on the woman’s voice.
‘While we all love to have a massive wardrobe and explore different styles, there’s one look that never goes out of fashion: dressing effortlessly!’ Arthur considered his own wardrobe upstairs, full of old shirts and underwear that was begging to be thrown out. Perhaps it was time for a complete refresh? The green t-shirt that he had been wearing changed, the fabric become softer than ever on his newly sensitive skin. It shrunk, fitting his smaller frame. Similarly, the textile of his jeans shifted, now clinging elastically tight to his wider hips. His socks, once grimy and pulled up past his ankles, became a stark white, turning into a pair of fashionable trainer socks. Over his smaller shoulders, straps formed, soon creating two soft, practical cups, gently cradling his nipples. They were loose, eager to be filled. The bra fastened behind Arthur, but he barely noticed, lost in the sweet words of the app. His underwear shrunk down, now stretching over his wider hips and slightly diminished genitals. It changed into a white silk, finished with a tiny, decorative pink bow on the front. The panties were taut across his manhood.
‘Beyond your clothing, there’s something that is far more important, something that is undeniably yours.’ Arthur noticed that the voice was now speaking with far more passion. Earlier, it was almost whispers. Now, the woman speaking through his headphones was prouder, louder, and passionately lecturing him on the benefits of embracing one’s womanhood. Arthur had never thought about it, but now seemed like a great chance to embrace his feminine side. After all, what did he have to lose? ‘The most important thing, is of course your smile!’ the voice said, Arthur’s own face bursting into a brilliant grin in time with the speech. With a dull, painless crunch that echoed within his ears, his face shifted. His jawline softened, losing its slight masculine squareness until he had a cute button chin. His cheekbones widened, finishing his beautiful smile with a pair of dimples. Lips that had once been picked and imperfect were smoothed out, his teeth whitening and straightening as if his diet was immaculate. His nose sunk and thinned, his eyelashes growing out longer with a pair of well-maintained eyebrows finishing his face. Arthur now had the face of a beautiful, smiling woman. There was some trace of his original self still buried amongst the femininity, but the confidence was all new.
‘What does that smile say?’ the voice pressed on, ‘It says to me one word: Confidence!’ Arthur let out an audible whoop, no longer caring if anyone could hear him. He felt confident, and that was something to be celebrated! ‘Sometimes that confidence comes from within, but there’s nothing wrong with showing it without, too! Your body is yours, girl! Flaunt it if you want to!’ Arthur laughed delightedly as he slid deeper into the sofa. His rear felt as though it was raising off of the cushion slightly. The fat reserves that had vanished earlier were now returning with more force, bubbling and growing his flesh. A large, round rear had formed, making his curvy hips look all the curvier. The sudden fat growth was matched on his chest. Arthur let out a soft gasp as he felt his nipples harden. The fat beneath was growing, filling out his bra with two large mounds, soft, pliable, and overwhelmingly sensitive. He tentatively squeezed one breast from outside his t-shirt, itself now stretched tight, and the sensation sent another burst of pleasure through him.
‘Your body is yours! If you want to turn people’s heads, turn them!’ Arthur nodded along agreeing, his body now undoubtedly feminine. ‘There’s nothing wrong with doing something for a little bit of attention – paint your nails, get your makeup done! It’s your world!’ One by one, Arthur watched as his nails were painted a bright, eye catching red, almost the same tone as the pink app that flashed across his screen. His nails grew longer, and he readjusted the grip on his phone. Foundation appeared across his face, followed by a subtle highlight and mascara that brought his features into greater focus. A glossy shine appeared on his lips as lipstick was magically applied. Arthur licked them, satisfied.
The app was in control now. Arthur didn’t care about what was happening to him, all he noticed was that he was feeling more confident than he had ever dreamed of. He felt that he could do anything.
‘You are a strong, powerful, sexual woman. Own your sexuality’, the voice said, the words repeating, mantra like in Arthur’s ears. He knew the app was speaking the truth. He wanted this more than anything, to be capable, to feel sexual, to feel powerful. Another jolt of pleasure ran through him, and he closed his eyes, almost instinctively sliding his hand down his smooth gut and into his silky underwear. Inside, he found the nub of his penis which he began to stroke. Wave after wave of pleasure was working through his body and his hormones adjusted, oestrogen flooding his system. The woman’s voice was in his ear, encouraging him, telling him to embrace his womanhood. Every one of his nerves felt alive with pleasure, passionate moans escaping his lips. Soon, he tipped himself over the edge, the orgasm throwing him back onto the sofa in bliss.
After a moment spent swimming in the pleasure, they pulled their hands out of their panties, feeling them slick with juices. Arthur’s penis had vanished. A wet vagina had appeared in its place, blossoming to life with the orgasm.
Anna opened her eyes, sheepishly wiping her hand on a nearby tissue. She slid her phone into her pocket, grabbing the still warm mug of coffee from earlier, her nails rapping against the ceramic.
‘Right, I need to work out what I’m going to do with the rest of today!’ she said confidently, feeling empowered for whatever was to come.
