Where Pain and Pleasure Meet - Part 16 (Public)

- A new Final Fantasy celebration – starring Cloud, Tifa and Sephiroth.

Part 16

Cloud stands chained up, shackled wrist and ankle alike to the pole of steel and all his efforts to free himself have come to nothing. Despite some heartening success in getting the chain between his wrist shackles to shift and allow him to slide it from side to side, there is not enough slack to permit him to work it clear of either end of the crossbar and thus free himself.  Nor can he raise himself high enough, strain as he might, to lift the chain over the top of the pole. He begins to suspect that his captor has cunningly designed his bonds with sufficient give in them to encourage him to hope – but without there being any real chance of freedom. It would, Cloud reflects, be the sort of cunning cruelty which would appeal to Sephiroth’s twisted mind. And his enemy was also holding Tifa captive – and might well return at any time – and he was still held helpless and almost naked to this steel stake! For both their sakes he MUST get free!

But for all his stretching up high, for all his attempts at sliding the chain first one way and then the other, for all the sweat of effort that sheens his body, a helpless captive he remains. There is no give in the chain; it cannot be worked free of the stake of shining steel – Sephiroth’s spite and cunning have defeated him.

And then, with a snarl, he throws his weight forward, no longer using anything but brute strength and the sheer power of anger as he battles to break free. Heedless of the pain that erupts in wrists and ankles as the steel manacles bite into his flesh Cloud tugs and strains, bending his knees, using all his weight to try and snap the chain. Teeth clenched tight with the tension, every muscle extending itself to its utmost, he heaves and pulls, his breath rasping and harsh with strain-strangled cursing, the boy pits the burning fury of flesh against the chill sting of steel.
