October's main project announcement and first look! [Makima | Chainsaw Man]

Hello my Sweethearts!

How are you doing? How is your weekend going? I hope you’re enjoying your most favorite activity and it helps you to ease your stress levels.
I hoped more people would participate in the voting process, but I am very-very thankful to all of you who did.
We came veeery close to the draw, and I for a minute felt myself like in the meme with the pilot from the film “Airplane” with Leslie Nielsen. And like in the meme with two red buttons. )

I’m happy to announce that our main October project will be Makima from Chainsawman!
Specially for that we already prepared first finished look of the photoshoot. Hope you’ll like it and will be excited to see more. Even so it’s a bit mild in terms of what is on display. But I can guarantee, it will be worth the wait.

Makima photoshoot landed on the day when we were especially into finding more ideas to execute on set. We used the mirror a lot, because we wanted to play a bit with the idea of her being “two-faced”. Because throughout the whole manga the author manages to save the level of mystery around her, showing her in opposite “sides/light”.
We chose to implement certain “fetishes” (just hints of them) to express her manipulative and calculative nature. If you read the manga (it’s not that big of a spoiler, because it's one of the motivation of protagonist), you’ll know that she establishes her control over main hero through the promise of a romantic and sexual relationship.
We saw many talently created cosplay photoshoots with Makima, and decided to go with more grounded and closer to each of us way of portraying her. Also, we wanted to reduce amount of spoilers. )

We, both of us, truthfully said we didn't enjoy Chainsaw man manga that much. Maybe because before that we tried this mangaka's previous series called “Fire punch”. I heard a lot about author’s unique writing style and view, but it didn’t find right place in the heart and mind. But drawing style is great! Not Vagabond or Berserk, or new Onepunch-man, but art in Chainsaw man is gorgeous.
And I can imagine that it will shine in anime, especially if studio MAPPA works on it.
