Hello my Sweethearts!
Many things are happening right now and I'm busy on looking up to as many things as I can. I know, that many of my Fiends here are very busy and hardworking individuals, and by knowing that, I can't help but take it as example and work harder. That's why it is a bit hard to find time to talk properly on internet for me these days.
Before it'll sound like bragging or weird, I want to share with new photo of our Superman shot where we used another "technique" on set and ofcouse share on small inside story. This image had been only retouched and color graded on post, all distortion were made on set.
When I first revealed that We was working on this project I mentioned, that it was the project where we experimented a lot on set. Maybe the most, because this project is really close to my heart.
As you can see we created extra rereflection and refractions around model to create "aura" around character. This "aura idea" came to us from shonen manga and anime series. You can take any, where characters savagely beat up each other while reminiscing about past or plans for fight.
Fun fact: Me and Tao took different series as base, but in the end came up to same idea. I took mine from "Bleach" sereis, and Tao from "Hajime no Ippo" series. In both titles character who, tend to look not dangerous or small in height in usual life, are appealing much more bigger and vicious during battle or fight.
So we wanted to create this kind of aura. Specifically for that we chose more innocent looking model, this way difference would more noticeable and somewhat intimidating (at least a bit).
To make this image we tried to put various magnifiers and lenses with different refractive power in front of our camera and shoot throu them. We incorporated them by including things like glass prism to create extra light refraction on camera's lense from light sources.
It may sound cool on paper, in reality it is just spending more time on making shot. )
While I was looking at all images made with this "technique" during post-production I caufgt myself on funny thought. If this shot was a video of her turning around it would be the moment, where in old Korean doramas editor uses "ddu-dung" sound and rapid zoom in (Like, ah, my heart! hehehe )). Or more funnier variant like in this video:
