Hello my Sweethearts!
I'm here to finish with long lasted question. I heard and read it so many times, but as it was back then, I wasn't ready. There were not many photoshoots I could sell and share with you and to all people, who noticed my works. But now, I think finally the time to do so. )
Many of my Friends here suggested to use Gumroad as the platform for selling digitals, if one day I'll decide to do so. I listened carefully and used your advice. )
I really appreciate time you spent to share on your thoughts with me, because I'm listening to them and trying to implement, if it is possible and might be better for projects and activity.
I'm very proud to announce my Gumroad Digital Shop!
Now, with important things: How it'll affect projects on Patreon and prices for digitals.
These two topics are going hand to hand, when think deeper.
About projects on Patreon: There will be (and is) 3 months delay between Patreon and Gumroad uploading. It means, that people on Gumroad will be able to get current project 3 months later than my Friends on Patreon. I want you to have all the fresh stuff, before anybody else. And I think it is fair enough. I wanted to make that gap last for half year at first, but in cosplay photography world this is quite big time gap.
About Prices: Before making my digital shop, I searched most of Gumroads photo section in order to know prices and how people manage their activities there.
And I can say, prices for my projects there are high, compared to other photographers or cosplay models.
Cosplay models usually sell more photos, but there is a big chance of no post-works done or bad quality of it. Everything will depend on how much hired photographer was paid, does he make post-production, was he even hired or model just shot herself on phone camera, or by someone not experienced in photography.
On other hand Photographers sell more stock material, custom brushes or LUTs (color pallette you apply on your image for certain look. For example "til-n-orange, 80th look etc), because they are cheaper and easier to produce.
Sometimes you can find gems, with everything in them, but it is rare thing. Because production of full project may take a lot of funds.
I was thinking for a long time, what price might satisfy me, taking in consideration how much time, efforts and health I spent on creating this projects.
You know, when you spent half a year or more on preparations, shooting and post-production, it is really hard to value your work and create balance.
Other thing I took in consideration was how more valuable it will be to support me here on Patreon, instead of buying something on my digital shop. As long as my patrons are able to get more here, I'm at peace, because once again it is fair.
All this thoughts, created current prices.
I'm really nervous about this step of mine. As a creator I don't want my works to be distributed illegally and fear of sudden drop and none growth of support here on Patreon. Because Patreon is for current and future projects, place where I can evolve myself and my works in something greater. This is precious place for me, because here, first time in my artist life, I found kindness, support and great friendship.
If you ask, Gumroad and Etsy is for food on my table and repairs of my shooting equipment. I too need to eat sometimes )
Truthfully said, I'm not expecting much from my digital shop, but I'm happy to provide more options for all people in the world, who somehow saw, liked my works and decided to buy something.
I'll be grateful, if you'll share on this news with anybody who was and is interested. It'll be great help )
For now, I'm going back to work! Hope you rested well on weekend and ready for the last working week of the year (at least in western countries) )
P.S.: For my Friends, to whom "Triss Merigold photoshoot" is available. I upgraded resolution for it, so now it is bigger - 2500x1667. )
