Poll: What's in the Pants?
Added 2020-08-05 18:14:53 +0000 UTCContinuing our datapoint collection, we're wondering what kinda characters do you play: specifically with regards to the age old question: "Are you a boy or a girl" -- or are you hanging out in the middle? We haven't taken a major survey on this since the midlife of CoC1, and I'm curious to see if the results have changed any over the course of the last eight years :P
Plus there's a lot more options now, seeing as CoC1 only really understood "Dude" "Lady" and "Herm" as existing.
Multiple options are open since I know plenty of people play several characters concurrently, but please try to keep it to a "top three" if you use a variety of genitalia setups.

I understand that it's the artist choice but it is disappointing that Kiyoko's huge amount of content is "tainted" for some people. Hopefully there will actually be a section of content in the future as in depth and well developed as Kiyoko's but skewed in a different preferential way.

Same goes for cis girl play through so i’m always happy when we are B L E S S E D with bottom/sub-y content. I had a specific herm play through in COC1 and TITs but i feel like my herms are always meaner and you can’t get that level of dom *cough asshole cough* in COC2 so far.

Personally I prefer the idea of a full female look but end up getting the cock for the extra content, don't know if its relivant to this poll but I do think having some sort of toggle option available to quickly add/remove it would be a nice addition.

2020-08-07 04:51:46 +0000 UTCCrystal: I have two things to say. First, adding an option to change "Father" and "Husband" to "Mother" and "Wife" will in no way undermine any of the Kiyoko content. I'm not asking for rewrites or overhauls or anything of the sort, just a simple alteration that will take maybe ten minutes to implement. Second, you might have a point about the "plenty of content" argument if this was a side character, but it's not. Kiyoko possess the single largest chunk of content in the entire game. Her romance story represents a more significant portion of the game than even the main quest line. Having THAT locked away is utterly absurd to the highest degree, especially when it is completely unique in doing so. No one else gets a super special romantic parter, just the straight men. That is sheer, repulsive privilege, and it is wholly offensive in a game like this.

I'm actually transitioning to become a woman IRL so I actually get extremely uncomfortable when my character is referred to in any masculine way. Its actually one of the reasons I've not done any of Kiyoko's content. However Kailina is right, there is plenty content in the game for everyone so missing out on one or two things due to gender isn't a huge deal. Not only that but while the game universe is extremely friendly towards all combinations of genders, it does add more to a character for them to have specific preferences. For example in the Wyld Elf Band, Merielle gets disappointed if you don't have a penis which adds just a tiny bit more personality to the character and writing additional scenes to account for everything would take up a lot more work and if its not in the writer's preference it would only be half-hearted. I feel like even if there is wonderful content I have to ignore because of my own issues (like Kiyoko's) I still feel like people should be able to fully express the characters they write in an unhindered manner. I have heard many people say how wonderful Kiyoko's content is and I understand it would probably suffer or even worse not be present if the writer was forced to add parts they were uncomfortable with. Its part of her personality that she's straight and I don't feel there should be an argument on the writer's creative design. It does suck for those of us that get uncomfortable being treated as a male, but there will undoubtedly be content for us that would suck for a male. I know I can't change the minds of anyone here but I hope we can all be constructive and understanding to eachother rather than arguing.

2020-08-06 21:04:11 +0000 UTCHonestly I think the reason it ignores herm pcs might be because technically you’re not SUPPOSED to be able to romance Kiyoko as a herm. Based on how Kiyoko is written it seems rather obvious that she’s straight as an arrow and probably only interested in male PCs. However I don’t actually know if it’s possible to exclude herms from male content, like code wise I don’t think it’s possible for it to say “oh you have a vagina so even though you have a dick you can’t do this scene”. Tl:dr Kiyoko might have been written only for male PCs but due to code restrictions herm PCs are able to romance her too which is why your other bits are ignored.

My problem is that the one who wrote it is an entitled child who refuses to account for dick-having women PCs in said content and tries to claim that this should only be for men. Be an adult and skip/ignore the stuff that doesn’t rub you the right way. It’s really not the end of the world and it’s not worth getting upset over.

You think it's a girl, then see the tent... Then you see 'him' undress and your like, wait, but you 'are' a girl? Nani!? This does, however, bring to mind an issue I've had with the game for a while: it could do a better job of acknowledging that the player has both sets of genitals. Too many sex scenes (especially the dick-centric ones) seem to completely ignore your other fun area as if it didn't even exist. By far the worst offender to this is the Kiyoko content. Despite the dozens of scenes with her, not a single one ever even mentions that I have a vag. In fact, none of it seems to recognize that I'm even a woman to begin with as I am exclusively referred to as "father" and "husband" despite explicitly selecting female in the gender pronoun options. I find this especially troubling as I otherwise love the Kiyoko content; it is some of the best written stuff in the game. I just wish it actually acknowledged me as a woman. I am not a man. I will never be a man. And I find it legitimately upsetting when the game says I must be a man. I really wish this were fixed.

Its nice to feel heard, especially if it helps you understand your audience <3 I almost exclusively play full female, but I have experimented with futa. Though I sometimes get the feeling from those scenes that its geared more towards raw male characters (understandably!) but I would probably like to see a strap-on included, like the hardlight option in TiTS.
