SL: Chapter 762 – Day 28,337 – Ascension, What Ascension?
Added 2025-10-05 23:07:04 +0000 UTCThe airship exploded as it was targeted with cannon fire. All the soldiers on board were vaporized. The airship itself was consumed in a massive annihilation explosion. I hadn’t moved from my seat on the bridge.
I chose to face the attacks head on. Foolish, maybe. But it was the ultimate power move. I countered with an annihilation sphere around myself, countering their attacks. As I flew out of the debris. I noted they hadn’t activated the city shield. That would have saved them since I would have gotten too board.
They probably thought if I was wiped out, then they wouldn’t need to activate it. I let out energy in front of me and shaped it like a very pointy rounded pyramid. Air Burst x100.
There was a massive sonic boom and shockwave as I moved from about a kilometer away from the city to past its wall in a second. The aerial shockwave blew away the soldiers on the wall. But they had no chance. My eyes and senses swept over everything and everyone as I passed. I had only slowed down, because the energy construct I had made in front of me deformed from the pressure and created too much drag.
The cannons that had been set up all exploded. All the soldiers lost their heads. It was time to move again. I didn’t bother beheading individuals as I flew forward at an insane rate of speed. The main structure was twenty stories tall.
That was a lot of points to build that high. Perhaps I should build a giant tower building in a city, a hundred stories tall as a monument to my vanity. Make people who wanted to meet me fight their way up to the top as a homage to my tower climb so long ago.
I wasn’t that cruel. If it was in the past I might have made the Avatar climb up and down endlessly just to live. Give her, her legs back and lock her in the tower, making her climb up and down just to get food and supplies. It would have been hilarious. Now she was just going to die no matter what. No discussion. No second chances. Just death.
Landing in the plaza in front of the capital building, definitely where someone who was in charge would be staying. The guards didn’t even have time to react as their heads left their shoulders. No human was my match in any way.
The doorway disintegrated as I moved forward. “The Archon?” I asked a terrified servant as I gripped them by the soldier. Corpses of soldiers and other people littered about the large hallway.
“Bunker, under the throne,” the servant whispered and pointed nervously. I let the woman go. She was intelligent enough to live. I quickly moved to the throne room. There was an attempted ambush, but I unraveled the skills as they came at me and countered annihilation attacks with my own annihilation attacks for five seconds.
It was good practice in countering a range of skills through counter energy manipulation. The trick was messing with the energy, so it dispersed and didn’t create an annihilation reaction. It was too risky to try in real combat, but this was like fighting babies compared to level 8 or higher monsters. All the people lost their heads after those five seconds, and I moved to the throne.
It was gaudy and gold looking. I could sense a tunnel beneath it. I didn’t bother trying to find a hidden latch or anything else. It was vaporized with an annihilation attack exposing the tunnel beneath. I leapt down.
Oh, there were bombs, it was a mined. How amusing. I created annihilation explosions to counter the explosions aimed at me. I wasn’t going to be killed by a large bomb. I could only imagine the fear Clarissa would have after she learned what I was doing. I had no doubt she had observers or that servant was her spy.
She would realize I was truly unstoppable. I was the unstoppable force that swept over things. Landing at the bottom of the tunnel, the passage above began to collapse downwards.
There was were several doors in front of me, but I easily pushed my body through them. The metal moving out of my way. Three doorways in total before I finally reached an underground bunker. I could sense another passage up to another building at the edge of the city. No one was in that secondary passage.
There was a gaudily dressed man. Even with my presence here, crushing all his defenses, he was proud and calm. Too calm. Time to use a bit of intelligence to draw out whatever surprise he had and then kill him.
“By the power of the word Ascension! Obey me!”
All his nearby companions, including his harem members lost their heads. He used skill, but it took time to activate. I had already moved. I was too quick for him to properly target. His skill was fast. But not as fast as a level 10 monster.
Moving to the side avoiding the burst of energy that swept for me, I also created an annihilation blast just to be sure the skill was disrupted. I then moved back in and grabbed him by the neck.
“Really, trying to make me your slave?” I asked rhetorically. I was holding him off the ground and his arms had fallen off as he wriggled about in fear and pain. I didn’t want him to try something with his hands. Some annoying touch based skill or something.
I kept a constant annihilation attack happening on his two arm stumps to ensure the damage would be very hard to reverse. I then sealed them with a burst of fire. The man passed out. I then looked upwards.
The main passage was blocked and we weren’t under the plaza. Taking a moment to focus I unleashed a massive annihilation attack upwards. The people in the city would see a beam of white light shooting upwards and feel a large wave of energy. The ceiling and everything above the bunker was removed. Air Burst.
I flew upwards holding the leader of Ascension and flew over to the plaza. There were screams, many people ran away. Some brave soldiers stood their ground. I tossed their leader onto the ground.
“I am Michael. I am the most powerful person in existence. Don’t mess with me. Repeat that and you can leave alive. Say, Michael is the most powerful person in existence. Don’t mess with him,” I said.
The soldiers and handful of others quickly said those words, and I nodded at this. “Good. I don’t like being arrested or threatened. I do the threatening. Don’t make me come back here for any reason or try to arrest me again. If anything your nation should be bending over backwards to welcome me from now on. But I would accept just not being targeted or annoyed.”
They all listened in fear, not daring to say anything. I looked down at the armless based out leader. I debated on if I should remove his legs as well and turn him into a human nugget. After a couple of seconds, I decided not to. I was nice like that.
I wasn’t that cruel. Removing his arms was a safety measure. There was no need to remove his legs as well. At least that way when he woke up, he could run away if there was a coup. “Any questions?” I asked. There was no response, only the shaking of heads. Cowards, but cowards who were smart got to live.
“I guess the soldiers I introduced myself to earlier on that airship were killed. I am Michael. The one who has slain the Ritualist, Divine Empress, Astrologer, Monster, Bastard Disciple, and the Sphere. The one who saved the Almighty System itself from the third calamity. The one who possesses combat level 10.”
Air Burst. I flew away. There was no point in continuing to fight and kill people. The entire attack had taken less than 10 minutes from when the airship had blown up to me departing. I really was too strong. Air Burst.
I could have taken an airship at one of the airship ports when I left, but it wasn’t worth the hassle. I was faster and more comfortable on my own. I had also left a giant hole in the city and a ruined palace. Air Burst.
It would have been possible to massacre the population, but I wasn’t the Divine Empress going overboard at every small slight. As for a decoy being used, the fact the guy in charge had tried to use a meta-point skill on me was enough evidence in my mind. No need to overcomplicate things. Air Burst.
And if the guy I had dearmed wasn’t their leader, at least he would be properly warned for the future. That was the entire point of this little side trip. To leave a lasting impression on everyone that I was not to be messed with in any way. Air Burst.
I bet some people might wear gray clothing or try to imitate me. But they would be found out fairly quickly. There was always an idiot or two to test things. And no one could replicate my signature decapitation attack. Air Burst.
Honestly the number of traps and defenses they had put together was only decent. If they were truly committed they would have destroyed the store in an attempt to wipe me out in the resulting explosion. Air Burst.
I had no idea if they knew such things, but Clarissa had probably warned people about what would happen if the pillars were destroyed, just to prevent pointless stupidity. Now that would have been the ultimate move to counter me. Air Burst.
Honestly the best option would have been activating the city shield and trying to hold out for months. That way I would get bored and leave. But they clearly wanted to win, not understanding the magnitude of their stupidity. Air Burst.
Now it was time to check the last corner. No sign of the sword, but it was clearly laying low. It was smart enough to understand it would not have a good ending if I got a hold of it. I didn’t like that it had attacked me from a long distance across multiple zones. Air Burst.
I hadn’t forgotten that. I wouldn’t forgive it. Once you annoyed me, you were going to suffer. A shame that so many people had to die, but that was the only way some people got the point driven into their heads. Air Burst.
If I had just beaten them up, they wouldn’t take me seriously and not risk offending me. As for the leader being just crippled, well it would make things a huge mess. If I had killed him, they could blame me. Being armless meant everyone would be trying to heal him or kill him off. Air Burst.
If the soldiers were smart or ambitious, they would have killed him when I had left the plaza. But I doubted they would take such an action on their own initiative. I hadn’t seen anyone too important there when I had been talking, but I also hadn’t been looking that closely either. Air Burst.
Well, what was done was done. No use overthinking things. I had far more important things to worry about than some leader of multiple cities. Those were human problems. I was beyond human problems. And if I did get involved, no one would be happy about me getting involved. Air Burst.
“That was over far too quickly,” I muttered. That was my biggest complaint. I had been expecting some more traps. Just something better than all of that. It was honestly a joke. I hadn’t used up half of my energy. And most of it was spent at the end blowing a massive passage up and out of the bunker. Air Burst.
Well, the city had a new feature. The Michael Pit could now be made into a tourist attraction. Come see what happens when you piss off the most powerful person in the Systemic Lands. Air Burst.
