Announcement: 3rd Story, Time Skip, and Stuff

Hello my amazing and beautiful Patrons! This announcement is a bit earlier than the regularly scheduled chapters since, there are many announcements and updates. The first piece of big news, is that my 3rd Story, Calculating Cultivation is now going up. You are getting the first 10 chapters today and 2 chapters a week after this Monday and Wednesday. They are beefy chapters are 5k each.

Blurb: Reincarnated into a land of cultivation, Yuan Zhou uses his Earth knowledge and assumptions to become a genius under the heavens for both business and cultivation. However, he walks the path of defiance, exceeding all rational cultivation bounds. His business ideas struggle against the stagnant culture that pervades the land, but the things he doesn't lack are his drive for immortality and power.

I normally don't like to ask more of you Patrons since you are already supporting me. But it helps a lot if you hit the favorite on Calculating Cultivation and give it a rating along with Tom Cat and Murder Mittens on Royal Road. This helps it climb up the Rising Stars list and get more attention. I am doing additional stories since art, editing, and getting books on Amazon is not cheap. Even with all your support, I am actually losing money as weird as that sounds. Favoriting and giving a rating is a tremendous help to push my stories up the Rising Stars list to get more visibility and more Patrons. That minute or two of clicking buttons and stars makes a huge difference.

The Systemic Lands will be hitting a time skip at the end of Volume 10, which will be around chapter 500. That will be in about a week. Once I reach that point there will be a break in chapters for one week. I am using this break to do the map, the Power Guide, math for the time skip, stat sheets, and figuring out the plot in more detail after said time skip. I will be taking a week off from posting chapters of the Systemic Lands at that time but am still working on the story. So a break in posting, but not in getting things ready for Arc 2. I wish it was a vacation lol, but it will be much busier than normal and trying to write chapters while doing all that is just asking for mistakes to happen and a lot of unnecessary stress. This is a great time to check out my other two stories and hit buttons.

Systemic Lands will also be going up on Amazon and KU on June 1st, with the first volume and then one volume a month after that, hopefully. Editing and covers are complex issues I am dealing with. The audio book will be coming out for the first volume, but later audio books are pending and will take longer to finish. Amazon.com: The Systemic Lands Volume 1: A Harsh Welcome

Pre-orders can't be set up for paperback, hard cover, or audiobook, just the e-book. It will also be on KU. This means it will be going to a stub on May 13th on RR. While this won't affect any of you, I am letting you know.

In addition, the Systemic Lands will most likely reach the ending and answers in about 1 year+a few months from now or 700-1,000 chapters. Consider this a heads up if you want to do a year subscription. After this point, I make no promises. At least 1 years of content from now is my promise for Systemic Lands.

Fun fact, initially I was aiming for 20,000 chapters and 400 volumes. Countless chapters of interpersonal drama and very heavy filler volumes. Yes, I was a bit optimistic. Thankfully I have refused to use insane amounts of filler. Realistically, probably 25-30 total volumes total. Things will be picking up speed in some places going forward, but I don't plan on rushing. There is a lot of story left to tell. The Antagonists and ending are worked out as I have mentioned before, but a lot of details are still up in the air.

A good example is the Astrologer. I thought about doing more backstory for him, but I realized it wasn't necessary or really added anything. The UCS is gone, and he wasn't going to escape. No need to drag it out pointlessly.

I am trying various strategies to help Mittens get more traction. This means bonus content, both of the spicey variety for the first bit of bonus content. The next bit of bonus Patron only content after some creature spice will be the Power Guide, or the religious text that Michael will make up in story. One of the things I need to work on over my week break from posting chapters. Things that are fun/NSFW to read, but not crucial to the stories. Beyond that, they will come up as I think of them to generate more traction from RR to Patreon. This is another way I can show my appreciation and thank all of you for your continued support.

There is no plan on any Patreon cost or tier changes at this time. It will remain 10 USD and you will just get more value. Surprising right? :) In terms of posting schedule, there will be a vote end of May, early June to let me know, which of my stories you support the most and there will be an adjustment in posting rate based on that. Either a slight increase or decrease depending on what gets the most votes. This will likely happen after my other two stories drop off Rising Stars on RR.

As always, thank you again for your support. Without you amazing people it would not be possible for me to write this much.

I'm with Gallant here. Certainly haven't absolutely loved every single decision but on the whole I've enjoyed the writing, it's why I'm here. You're output level is insane and I can't imagine how you manage, but you do. The bee cares not that we think it shouldn't fly, it just does.

Don't listen to him. You've more than proven yourself capable of maintaining your pace and while I have been critical about certain plot decisions, I have loved your writings and the newest story has been great so far.

GallantRage1 .

Well thank you for your support so far. Amazon is expensive, just on base costs. Here is a breakdown for volume 1 and where the costs fall in terms of range. Editing: $0.01/word (Copy and Line), $1300 (Low-tier) Audio: $350/Finished Hour, $5,200 (Mid-tier) Cover Art (Audio/Print/E-Book): $750 (Mid-tier) That isn't counting the ISBNs and Atticus program I purchased to do the formatting myself to save money. That is how publishers get authors. They can't pay for all of this and the authors take 30% royalties and get a fraction of a fraction. That means I have spent around $7,500 not counting time just to get the first volume up on Amazon. No advertising or anything else. That is money spent on something I haven't seen any return on. That is about 2.5-3 months of Patreon income. I was offered publishing deals for the Systemic Lands, but they were not acceptable in my mind. With all the work I had, to just give up 70% to 50% just because someone has money to front? I get there is a bit of risk, but it is honestly mind boggling when you sit down and do the math. Most writers get stressed out from trying to figure this out. Just get offered an advance against their royalties and take it out of desperation. I am lucky and thankful for the support that I don't have to do that. I also like to be up front about things. Other authors charge as much as me and release far less. I try to add more value. As for burnout, well 25 chapters are done for Calculating Cultivation and my other two stories have been going strong without interruption. I would have thought after this long I had proven myself that I can keep up my writing pace. EDIT: Monster fighting is going until the end of the volume. Like other portions, it won't last forever. But it will have a big impact for after the time skip. At most it is a week.

Losing money? That sounds like a decision making problem, honestly. At this point I think I'm probably out. Can't imagine 3 stories being sustainable without burnout and I'm not a big fan of the pokemon direction we've got for this volume. Probably check back in later on but for now.. Good luck.

Thank you! This is a big help. I am trying to increase the value of Patreon and don't want to ask for more. So, some shameless begging for a couple of clicks, really helps bring in some more people for a minute or so of effort and keeps everything going.

Mister Vii

A content machine. I try to let a stockpile build up before starting, but I do want to see your take on a cultivation novel so I might read daily there. I’ll definitely go rate on RR though. Keep up the good work!

Thanks! I am very happy that April had no interruptions in posting. Helps when I have power and my brain isn't melting. Also taking this job seriously and your support.
