Aight so before we dive into the obligatory end speech Even though this penultimate episode was a LOT. better than that which shall not be named ..There's 2 things I'mma have to bitch about 1. Destiny's descendants have been around for 2000 years and yet the language displayed all over this town was VERY. similar to modern day English ...Realistically this wouldn't be the case ...If you'd compare modern day English to that spoken/written 500 years ago you'd see a very noticeable difference ...2000 years? ...Destiny's descendants would have transformed English into something different entirely 2. Notice how they were flying Destiny into a blue giant to replenish it's power ...Notice how the entire time this star is shown to be very ...well... blue in colour .....Sooooooo... Explain to me how when Dr. (Lisa) Park (The actress who by the way has Asian ancestory ..Yip ..Wray wasn't the only one who could have spread Asian genes) was trapped inside the hydroponics bay ...And the dome collapsed ...The whole place was engulfed in very yellow normal looking fire? ....The star was blue ...It's plasma exerted from it? ...VERY. BLUE. ...Where was all this yellow shit coming from? Anyhoo ...Good episode --- So here we are Froots ..We've reached the end of the shows that are canon to the Gateverse ..For now I suppose ..No official word on a new show yet and those connected to what once was aren't giving away any plans on what was planned ..And yes ..There was a plan Only very few people know what those plans are and Brad Wright asked them to keep it a secret in the chance that perhaps one day the gate would be opened again ...A pilot was written roughly 4 or 5 years ago by now (maybe more) ..You can thank Covid for the most part for putting a halt to it going anywhere Since then Amazon took over the rights to Stargate and the IP has been in limbo ever since ...Only rumours have spread that Amazon in on the verge of coming up with an announcement ..But yeah.. No official word yet ..Just people who CLAIM. they've spoken to those in the know ..And the more those people talk ..The less credible they end up sounding Universe ...I liked this show ...It's a controversial statement to make as a lot of "fans" didn't seem to like it ...I put fans in quotation marks as I am of the unshaken opinion that ..Much like Star Trek has it's shows that "fans" bash on ...You CAN'T truly call yourself a fan UNLESS. you like ALL. the shows ...I mean sure ..You can like one more than the other (I don't play favourites) but you CAN'T outright hate on a show belonging to a franchise and still call yourself a fan ..Sorry ..But I will never change my opinion on that ...Universe was a good show and I was sad it ended ...Still am I agree with other people in the comments ..As far as best characters go (Again ..Not playing favourites so I call it "best") I resonated a lot with Eli ..Not cause of his smarts ..We both know daaaamn well I'm not THAT. smart (I'm not stupid either) ...But he was the outsider on this show and I've always found myself relating a lot to the outsider characters ...For a long while Teal'c was that character for me on SG-1 until Daniel went through the whole ascension arc ..On Atlantis it was Ronon even though he didn't join until the 2nd season ..As you can see ..I like a lot of characters and don't really have a "favourite" ...For me it's more like "favourite moments" I also resonated with Greer a lot ...It was kinda sad to see you disliking him ...I thought the dude was funny and I definitely saw some of myself in his character ...This guy went out of his way to protect / look out for others with not much care about himself in the process ...Me. I liked how this show put some conflict between it's characters ...It was a lot more prominent in Universe than it was during the entire runs of both SG-1 and Atlantis Young was always at odds with Rush ...It was portrayed in a realistic way ...It wasn't just settled within one or two episodes ...These 2 characters were at odds for most of the 2 seasons and definitely still didn't quite trust eachother by the end ...But for the sake of the crew they had to work together TJ ..The medic ...I liked how we were given a character that was in over her head... She didn't sign up for this but yet given the circumstance she was able to get shit done (with a little help now and then) ...Having no doctor on the team ..It added another layer to the high stakes feeling that came with this show Wray ...I'm fairly certain the first openly gay character in the verse and it was about damn time ...I would have loved to have seen more of her relationship with Sharon ..How Wray's absence had an effect on them ...I also like how she started off as someone I didn't quite know I could trust but turned out to be a valuable member of the team in the end Scott and Chloe ...Never really cared for their relationship ...It was too on the nose that these 2 would hook up.. The good looking people are into eachother while the nerd gets 3rd wheeled ...Too tropey and it's the one realistic thing about the show I could've done without ..But aside from that and Scott's religious crap ..They were ok Telford and Varro ...The traitors turned good guys ...Not much I have to say about them ...I didn't hate them ..Well ..I very much disliked Telford in the beginning ..Until we found out he was being brainwashed ..After that he was alright ...And I didn't have a problem with Varro ...He was a nice addition to the crew ..Sad we didn't get to see more of him Honorary mentions ...Lisa Park, Adam Brody and Dale Volker ...The B-team? These 3 characters were prominent during most of the show and yet they were never part of the main cast ...Well ...I considered them main cast regardless given they were in the background doing shit and being part of things most of the time.. They were basically in every episode.. I liked them ...Dale was funny ...Lisa was pretty ....And Adam ...Adam was Goku! (one of the voices at least) ...How could you not like the guy!? ....Yeah I'm not done yet.. Destiny! ...The ship was very much a character in it's own right ...It carried the crew on their journey ..It had a mind of it's own ...It did some pretty cool shit ..Like ...Powering itself up inside a fucking star?!!? ...Dude ...That's fucking COOL. as SHIT. ....INFINITE. fuel if used correctly ...This ship was on a mission to somewhere and it had been out there for several million years ..Sadly we may or may not ever know what was at the end of it's journey though So... As we are about to embark on our last trip ...Before we go to slumber while we wait until Gateverse comes back again (fingers crossed it's a continuation of this verse and not a reboot) Thanks Froots ...I've never had a best friend before with who'm I got to geek out about Stargate ...ONE. of my favourite sci-fi franchises ...I knew going in that you weren't that much (read: at all) of a science fiction fan.. But I also knew that Gateverse would start off light and could possibly heighten your interest just a tiny little bit along the way It's a shame that we have such issues with Paramount ...As there's an entirely unexplored frontier worth of shows ..With episodes that put modern day issues in a futuristic perspective.. Issues that are tackled with a hopeful view that has shaped minds ...A franchise that ..Sure ..Might be set in a place that's much more science fiction centric ...But it's underlying message of acceptance for others and it's depiction of a brighter future for all of us.. It filled several generations of fans with hope that no matter who we are or where we come from.. We are going to overcome our differences That is what puts it on the same level as Gateverse for me (possibly even higher) ...I'm ofcourse talking about Battlest....... Nah fuck that ..I can't say that ..Fuck that show Anyhoos ...This was fun It's almost time to start the wait for more Gateverse I'll see you on the other side

I got busy & missed the deadline, so I added in my late comment from last week's reaction I was disappointed when Universe ended. It was the start of Syfy mismanaging things & making bad choices, season had been moved off Friday nights where they aired Stargate since they picked up SG-1 for season 6. If I remember correctly too they barely advertised the show during season 2 which that plus the day of the week change caused ratings to go down for season 2. Syfy was starting to change from ScFi to Syfy & the new leadership at the time wanted to move away from Sci-Fi stuff so they lost interest. The same bad decisions also affected the Battlestar Galactica spinoff Caprica. They barely advertised that show too & even switched air days halfway during the season so it never made it past season 1 I was initially disappointed that the show felt different then SG-1 & Atlantis, but overall, I ended up liking this show, for what it was. Eli was a favorite character of mine, but Greer is up there too. It seemed like that character was initially conceived to be a loose cannon with an angry temper, but that changed quickly & he really became a well nuanced character I really enjoyed the "version 1" Stargates, that they didn't have as long of a range & could only dial other gates in a localized area. It was always my guess that this style of gate was the 1st mass produced gate by the ancients & the Milky Way was the 1st galaxy "gated" by the seed ship & then sometime later the gate network was upgraded to the models we know now. I do wonder if the Milky way gates are version 2, or if it's a later model & there were gate models in between I also guess that at the time The Ancients left The Milky way for Pegasus, Pegasus also had these early gates & one of the Ancient's first order of business was to upgrade the Pegasus network. The Asgard's Ida Galaxy had Milky Way style gates, or at least 1 that we saw Jack go through in The Fifth race, I would guess the gates or at least plans so the Asgard could build gates were given by the Ancients. I think I've rambled on enough about the gates, back to Universe. With "The Planet Builders" as they have been referred to online, I initially didn't like the idea. it seemed to me at first like they were trying to establish there was a "real god" out there, which to me seemed to go against what Stargate had presented so far that any "gods" are either technologically or biologically more advanced & only appear as gods from a lack of understanding. After thinking about it, the idea grew on me & I've come to like the idea that there are beings or maybe a single being on a level above what we have seen with ascension. With science, the more we learn & understand, the more we realize there is still remaining to learn & understand & any beings like that would have an existence that is so far beyond our level of comprehension that even if Destiny was right in front on one, the humans wouldn't be able to understand it, no matter how much they study it I found because of Stargate, so it makes it sad that this is an end of an era since we have no new Stargate content yet. Amazon just couldn't get their act together when it came to MGM stuff. Now that there's new leadership at Amazon video, I was hoping we would finally get a new Stargate announcement at San Diego ComicCon this year, but that didn't happen. They are finally moving forward on new James Bond though & when Amazon purchased MGM, they stated that Bond & Stargate were the 2 big assets they wanted to build on, so hopefully we can get a game plan by the end of the year with them shooting in 2026 at the latest & new show or movie coming out in 2027 by the latest. I also still hope they don't do a reboot. they've built up such a rich mythology, both what we've watched on screen & in in universe history that happened long before the original movie. There is so many stories they could tell, past & present, it would be a shame to throw that away. Whether we get a reboot or continue on, hopefully we get good stories at least.
