I think the girl was just supposed to be a lost, shy child tbh. Probably an element of being in shock too though. It did feel a bit weird the way she was acting though.
I think overall she probably was a bit too inexperienced as an actor to make it believable, but she is a child after all, I’ll give some slack.
Shonda, the creator of Greys did say apparently that the little girl was just supposed to be a metaphor for Meredith, as a girl without a present mother who is unable to speak for herself.

Every episode of the show is named after a famous song.
Yes, very dramatic episode.
I still stick with my opinion, that the girl is either Autistic or in shock.
The show is too well directed for them to allow acting that bad. Its one thing if some lines are a little stiff. But the lack of talking, the spaced out look, the delayed response is too much like shock or autism to be accidental.
But that's just my opinion.
Izzy did good drilling that guys head and earned her way back into doing procedures instead of just watching.
Christine here is very touching but Derek really gets the award here. Wow.
I liked the scene with Sloan sitting next to Derek and grabbing his arm in support.
The scene at end is a bad sign, two dead guys talking to Meredith.

Izzie calling Richard and him having to look up what to do in a book is really funny. You have to assume there’s a lot of doctors in this hospital that we usually don’t see, why not get one of them to come to the phone at least? There’s no way derek is the only neurosurgeon in that hospital. I guess TV show gotta TV show!
Impressive from Izzie though. Pretty sure regular medical drills have lots of safety features to avoid drilling too deep, so doing it with a regular power drill is really impressive, especially for someone that’s not done it before.
I will say though, I think letting her drill the holes in the real surgery is probably silly. Surely after a DIY surgery in the field like that the “real” surgery is even more important to get right because you may have to fix issues caused by the not ideal conditions out on the road etc.
“this is important, his mom is in surgery” “ooh what surgery?” - I love Cristina. She always seems to have great quips and these little moments.
Meredith out here looking like a smurf after Derek pulled her out of the water
I think all things considered George probably did the right thing lying to the patient. Bailey would never have been able to do the surgery if he didn’t. And Bailey agreed with that or she’d have told the patient that he was lying before starting the surgery. So to try and take the high ground after is a bit hypocritical.
Yeah Izzie is kinda awful still. I think she believes she’s doing the right thing and it’s ok to have an opinion on what friends do, but there’s a difference between being there for someone you think is making a mistake and trying to change their mind. Trying to change their mind is a just going to push them further away and give them nobody to talk to if things do go bad.
I find it so hard to sympathise with Derek. I just think he’s terrible. I do agree this is the first time it’s really felt like he’s loved Meredith though, so that’s nice.
