Jewel Staite was asked about it during a Comic Con and said any link there was not intentional. While the strawberry thing may have been a reference put in by the writer of the episode. This was never confirmed by the writer, but there's been a ton of Star Trek references made since Robert Picardo joined the show so I wouldn't put it past them.

2025-02-19 08:15:25 +0000 UTCI loved seeing Bill Nye and Neil deGrasse Tyson in this. Especially playing themselves. Bill Nye (The Science Guy) a long time celebrity of nerds. Still famous to this day. Especially in science circles. He does debates arguing with climate change deniers and flat-earthers. Neil deGrasse Tyson, director of the Hayden Planetarium at the Rose Center for Earth and Space in New York City. He is most famous for being the guy that down graded Plato from being a planet. This is not true of course, it was down graded by a conclave of astrophysicist due to it not meeting all the definitions of a planet. But he was over heard talking about it to a group of elementary students at the planetarium, who then proceeded to cry. A reporter saw this and wrote about it in the paper. Resulting in him getting the blame. Since then he has host MANY science based TV shows, gave testimony before congress, been on hundreds of interview shows. This makes he possibly the most famous scientist since Einstein. That was not in fact Stephen Hawking. Heck, the both of them have even been posted MANY times in the ASR Discord. Wait, on the plane, he gave Kaylee strawberries, we all know how she loves strawberries.

That was a famous bit from comedian George Carlin which is supposed to imply Keller is his niece I had said a few days ago in the discord that I had never heard of Neil DeGrasse Tyson prior to Stargate & then after this episode I saw him everywhere in news stories, tv shows & movies. Bill Nye was the big guest star to me though since I had known of him from my childhood, though my brother was more of fan of his show I wasn't really interested in it
