Did you already decide anything concretely about that? Like if it would be similar to the Matrix or if you had a different idea about how you'd do it? Would you write it like a usual tg tale, i.e. a man turning gradually into a woman? I liked the idea of someone who'd otherwise have a typical male identity experiencing simulated girlhood since infancy, as a result forming a female identity instead. Maybe with a bit of a feminist streak since she can't stand being held back, being treated so differently just because of her gender?

I did write an earlier fragment of a story set in the Matrix, and have thought about more over the year. I also have written some other virtual reality stories. Maybe I will make my own one of these days, meaning set in my own VR world, so I would own the rights to it all!

I didn't watch it for a long time, so last time I did I wasn't aware of who Switch was supposed to be. It was a different experience now, knowing she was supposed to be the chosen one as well as have different genders in and out of the Matrix. (And I also now think the Matrix would have been better if the characters had more differing looks in and out the Matrix.) It gave me the idea also that it might be beneficial to have people put into the Matrix as the opposite gender for a couple of reasons. It's established that the Matrix had been redesigned before, so I had the idea that it might be updated to generate bodies and lives for its occupants that are the opposite gender of their biological bodies, which would lead to more people blaming their gender for why they are dissatisfied with their lives rather than the Matrix itself. Thus I had the idea of maybe writing about a woman in the Matrix who's completely fed up with her life, about how she's treated by men, the grind and daily humiliation of her employment as a secretary in a tech company. It would be similar to the idea of Switch, but rather he'd be a man who's forced to be a woman, since there are sexier clothes in the Matrix than out and since it would lead to reluctant feminization. Additionally, I also had the idea that the digital self might be different not only gender-wise, but also ethnically and culturally. I would also go with the world outside the Matrix being just another layer of the simulation. Did you consider writing anything else Matrix-related?
