Gauging interest about future rematch polls
Added 2025-12-02 01:25:40 +0000 UTCOne thought that's been floating around in my head is asking myself "How can I give other peoples' favorites a shot if they lost out on a previous poll". I sort of addressed that issue with the whole Rematch format but I feel like with the jump to six entries per poll instead of 4, it complicates things a bit since now three entrants are missing that second chance instead of just one.
An idea I had was that instead of taking just the third place participant of previous polls, I instead take both the third and fourth participants. The catch here would be that Rematch polls would occur after every three months, rather than after four like before (or I guess now it would be six due to the extra two entry slots).
Example of what I mean - If I were to do a Rematch poll in January, the participants would be
Merope and Mikan (from September )
Jessie McCarney and Beatrice (from October)
Jacinthe and Catherina (from November)
Then we would continue polls normally for February - April, then the next rematch would be in May with the third and fourth place participants from those February-April polls.
I'd like your thoughts on whether this would be something you'd all be in favor of. I don't want to seem like I'm regurgitating choices several times a year but I'd like to give more people a chance for their faves. Otherwise, Rematch polls would occur after six months so I'm able to fill the slots with third place participants from the previous six polls
TLDR: Would you like both third and fourth place participants to return in Rematch polls instead of just third, but at the cost of less regular polls per year?

It sounds like a good idea to me. Maybe you can try it out for a year and then see how it worked out.
