What are extensions?

Extensions are enhancements to existing track mods in Assetto Corsa.
They consist of an additional 3D layer that add new models like bridges and gantries, brake markers, signs and billboards, buildings, kerbs, vehicles, marshal lights, white lines, etc...
They also include set of configuration files that improve visual quality and add CSP features like grassfx or rainfx, trees, people in stands, animated billboards, environmental effects for example.

Prerequisites

In order to make extensions work, first thing is to install Custom Shaders Patch (CSP) which you will find here:

CSP Version must be at least be 0.1.79

You can also install more recent versions (0.1.80 or 0.2.x).
They have some very nice improvements but sometimes can be less stable especially the most recent ones.

How to Download Tracks

First thing to do is to download the original track.

It can be a track from the original Assetto Corsa game and in this case you can skip this step

Or it can be a third-party track mod and in this case links to these track mods are always provided in the related extension post.

You can find almost all the tracks mods provided by the great Assetto Corsa community in the Breathe listing (huge thanks to him!!!)

How to Install Tracks

Once you have the track file (generally a compressed zip or rar archive )
you have to install it either by drag and drop it to Content Manager or
manually install it within Windows Explorer by extracting it to your assettocorsa folder.

In the end, the track folder should be located in the folder

assettocorsa\content\tracks

How to Download Extensions

Extensions link are always provided in the post as google drive links.

They are always accessible so if they don't it can be for two reasons:

How to Install Extensions

If you have some old versions of the extensions, it can be sometimes useful to completely remove and reinstall track and extension folder before installing extensions to avoid conflicts

Once extension is downloaded, you have to install it. Follow one of these two methods:

• Method 1: Drag and Drop (recommended)

• Method 2: Manual Installation (only if drag and drop fails)

Unfortunately, extensions cannot always be installed directly by drag and drop so most of the time you will have to extract them within Windows Explorer.

All extensions archive file respect the tracks folder structure so you just have to extract the track directly to your assettocorsa folder and that's it. It should be something like this:

...\Steam\steamapps\common\assettocorsa\content\tracks

Troubleshooting

"Cannot have 0 cars" Error:

This error always indicates incorrect installation of the track and/or extension.
Please read the installation steps again and everything should work perfectly fine 👌

First thing to know is that Content Manager cannot install extensions directly
so you have to manually extract the extension zip file to your assetto corsa folder (and this folder only)
using Windows Explorer (override extension existing files if asked)

To check that your install is OK, here is an example of a correct track/extension folder structure:

General Issues:

All tracks extensions are tested (by me obviously and by all users that have already download it before you) so if issues occur they are either detected and corrected quickly or they are caused by something wrong in your CSP config or the track / extension install

In a majority of issues, if you just remove the track folder completely then reinstall it and the extensions, that should solve the issues.

Incorrect CSP tracks config folder:

Some issues can also be caused by the way your CSP version loads base extensions files so there are some compatibility issues.
For recent CSP versions make sure your folder [assettocorsa\extension\config\tracks] contains only subfolders and no files.

Also make sure base extension files are automatically downloaded in your CSP settings

AI Cars Not Starting Race Issue:

Depending on the track, issues occur with latest CSP versions (> 0.2.x) with AI cars not starting the race

All we can do about it right now is just to go back to an older CSP version and wait for a CSP fix.

Please note that if you restart the session (even immediately after entering the race), everything is OK the second time.

AI Spline Issue:

This issue can be caused by some AI file incompatibility with your CSP version

To solve it go to Go to [Settings / Custom Shaders Patch / New AI behavior]
and uncheck the [Extra options for AI splines]

No Spectators:

In order to have spectators appear at your track check your config in Content Manager

Go to [Settings / Custom Shaders Patch / Track adjustments / Spectators] and uncheck the [Hide all spectators] and [Adjust amount of spectators] options

Lights issues:

Because everyone has different config, different PP Filter, different hardware, different settings, different taste, there is obviously no magic settings for lights.

Most of the time , I try to make lights work for everyone but if this is not the case (and if it's not some issues due to CSP - see above), the most easy way to improve lights to your taste is to adjust your Pure settings in-game, and PP filter brightness settings is always a good way to start:

Color issues / Seasons :

If your colors in game are completely desaturated it can be caused by seasons settings

To "solve" this, either set your race date to summer or chose another setting for the seasons in [Settings / Custom Shaders Patch / Track adjustments / Seasons ]

Some tracks, like jeddah for example... have race lines that are mostly yellow, there is no green. How to fix that ? Can someone help ?

Hi Pyyer, I have a problem which is not listed here, on the Redbull Ring, all the billboards are good but there is no Gravel traps at last corners, and no White/blue lines, so how can I solve the problem ?

Hi, if anyone is able to help, it would be much appreciated I downloaded quite a few tracks however only these don't seem to work Hungary 2024 Ext Red Bull Ring 2025 Ext Las Vegas 2024 Ext - (This will load however the track appears misconfigured with the sponsor barrier colliding with the Pit Lane) Melbourne 2024 Ext Monaco 2025 Ext Whenever I try to load these tracks onto Assetto Corsa via championships, it refuses to load me in with a pop up stating "Can't launch the race: track layout "layout_f1_2024 is damaged" All these tracks were installed via content manager so I am not sure if CM hasn't extracted them properly, I have tried extracting them into their respective track folders like the others but that has not resolved the issue. Las Vegas and Red Bull Ext have both displayed a warning saying they are audio misconfigured. However tracks like Suzuka 2025 Ext and Silverstone 2025 Ext work and load without fail

Did you read my take on the issues down below? Also, on what track is this happening? You need to be more specific when it comes to asking for support and troubleshooting. What are your CSP settings, etc.

That sounds like a skill issue… No, I'm kidding, bad joke. Kunos tracks, or to be more precise their layouts, have horrible AI lines and aren't competitive. I've noticed Pyyer including AI lines that are competitive and causes fewer crashes. So, what you're experiencing is basically an “evolution” of the AI, if you will. This is something he can't really help you with, other than saying, which I will do now, keep on practicing being better! Here's a handy tip, be in the back and follow the AI for a while and learn the track and braking points that way. Have fun! :)

You're right, there are some unnecessary bumps and the track isn't laser scanned compared to the new techniques used to make the tracks such as Fenryr. Even so, it's quite close enough and really well done. Of course, to reduce the feel of the bumps you need to set up the cars well, so the bumps become much less, especially for AI cars. I also highly recommend using the AI lines by mk-sg findable on Overtake, which not only makes the AI faster, but tries to avoid the bumps.

Just a dumb question , there is a more advanced surface modell of tracks , for example with Monaco i find weird bumbs where onboard RL has no any or in another place . I just examined and on monaco after the third bigger turns (Right turn) right after the turn is a huge bump where almost have to takoff from throttle , and probably is in wrong place as in RL they make an avoidance maneuver later after turn 3 like in the middle of the straight to turn 4. Nobody experienced this , and probably has other misplaced or wrong interpreted surface mesh. I dont think is Laser Scanned . Sorry for doublepost but i dont know if you read just the last posts or also track related posts too

Hi everyone. If you're having issues with some tracks and have no idea how to resolve them, and this FAQ didn't help, here are some solutions. If I encounter more issues, you can find the solutions here: --- If the AI seems subpar at times, consider downloading a free mod called “Better AI for Formula 1 Tracks” by Nuzzi on Overtake. To ensure compatibility, remove tracks you don’t use. For instance, if you don’t need 'sochi_autodrom' or 'melbourne_2019', delete those folders. Afterward, move the remaining track folders to content > tracks. --- If grass is missing on certain tracks, here's the solution: 1) Go to CSP > GrassFX > Extension. 2) Disable the “Skip loading of old grass meshes” option if it’s enabled. This should resolve the issue and ensure GrassFX remains enabled. If the issue persists, you may need to disable GrassFX entirely. --- If grandstands, roads, or other track assets are missing, here's the solution: 1) Go to CSP > General Patch Settings > CPU Optimizations. 2) Under Chunks Optimization, change the setting from “Advanced (Experimental)” to “Basic”. This should resolve the issue and prevent similar problems on other tracks. --- If grass or vegetation appears blurry while driving or standing still, here's the solution: 1) Go to CSP > GrassFX > Rendering options. 2) Disable the “ExtraFX pass” option if it’s enabled. This blur is caused by motion blur from ExtraFX. Disabling 'ExtraFX pass' feature should fix the issue. If the problem persists, consider disabling GrassFX entirely. You can keep motion blur from ExtraFX enabled.

First of all, thank you for all your work, it's really appreciated.I wanted to ask you, i'm playing mostly races and championships offline, and installed pretty much all your tracks, and there is no blue flags when i overlap the AI, yellow flags are also pretty random. Is this because of the track settings or there is something i forgot to tick in options ?

Hi Pyyer ! How are you ? I have a question regarding your extension. As for the F1 tracks, the limits are the whitr line, in opposit as the GT races where the limits are larger, esentially the kerb, I Wonder if you can update your extension to correct this point ? Because I use your extension for my F1 championship (FSW) and Real Penalty dont count the cut very well because of the track limits that are not everytime configured on the white lines. Thank you in advance for your answer 😉

Just to update,I only got round to test it on Bahrain 2024 by fenyr but it looks like the issue is the extension as on the original track by fenyr I don't have the speed bug,I'm on the latest csp v.2.5 preview 1

Hello all, hopefully I can get some help the extensions are amazing, however in some tracks me and the AI don't go over 160/170 km/h. I have tried with different vehicles and it still happening,the issue only doesn't happen on kudos original tracks,also tried to re install the tracks and extensions and still getting same issue all the time,any help please?

can someone please help... i have tried everything on the downloading side but no matter what i do it gives me "error track not found".. i tried manually installing the orginal track and also tried downloading it through content manager but no matter what when i press run it gives me track not found

As far as I understand you do the visuals on the tracks, and nothing on the physicks? Now we are closing in to Zandvoort 2024 F1, I hope you can use another track, than last year, who has a fault i corner 2, The ai cars are flying everywhere. My self tried VRC Formula Alpha 2024 and I got a terrible snap oversteer if I not tiptoeing through corner 2.

Excelent job ! All these improvements encrease the game feeling. But i have an issue. At each release, we have to use another layout and then, the previous best lap time are not merge. I try to put the new layout files from the folder at the root, but it doesn't work. I also try to past the best time from a layout to another but no way. If someone could help me.....

Thanks for reporting 👍 I have finally found what is the issue. It seems CSP has changed its way of loading camera_facing files. I have fixed it in version 2.1.3 of Silverstone 2023, now everything loads correctly 👌
