This is the first time Angel actually asked for help. Normally he'll let the others join in for the company, and if a spell is needed to beat the enemy while he's fighting or go it alone if he feels it's way too dangerous for them to join... This time he actually NEEDS them, and it's something he has to ask for, and not demand. Angel had many character developments over the seasons, and him finally asking for help here is a huge one

One of my favorite musical cues in the whole series is in this episode. It happens at the very end as everyone is raising their hands. The cue is a call back to the episode in season one that Doyle dies in, the theme is titled "Hero"

They did kind of hint that something was wrong with Angel, like he was being turned/going bad, at the end of episode 19: it was when he didn’t try to stop that pregnant woman from making a contract with the Fell Brethren clan of demons, to hand over her baby to them, when it’s born, despite Gunn trying stop it from happening. It still wasn’t enough to really convince anyone that Angel was turning evil, but that was all they really had time to do, with the show being cancelled during the season: it would have likely been a much slow burn, with Angel getting darker & darker, but the bastards cancelled the show, & spoiled it. The whole ending is a bit abrupt, but I suppose they did the best they could to give it a decent conclusion, while still leaving it open ended enough, in case the show somehow came back: sadly that never happened, & we’re stuck with the graphic novel/comic book continuation. It might be abrupt, but I don’t mind how they went about ending the show- in fact I actually like it: it’s got some great moments, & some incredibly moving scenes, with a few shocking twists, & superb dialogue/character interactions… It’s a sort of microcosm of all greatest characteristics of both the Angel series, & of the BuffyVerse in general: it’s a pretty good representation of everything that we love about that crazy world, condensed info a couple of episodes. Not a bad way to go out. 🙂

Only one episode of the Buffyverse left, and its probably going to make me cry. . .again lol.

There was supposed to be a season of Angel slowly going evil leading to this, but here we are.
