And yes, I do love The Invisible Man by Leigh Whannell. I do wish people would vote for it if it gets on polls or just....I wish Ashleigh would just watch it for the sake of it.

2025-10-17 20:43:12 +0000 UTCKnowing how disgusting and nasty (the bad kind) Ed and Lorraine Warren were in real life, is not a deal breaker for me and this franchise. The giddily narrow-minded bible-thumping is. The aggravating sight gags and action stunts are. Patrick Wilson's pious, obnoxious, quietly condescending performance is. (He must have a lower opinion of Ed Warren than I do. Or a very high one, which the very thought of disturbs me significantly.) I realize James Wan has tried to wash the hands of his rather peculiar career with [one of his latest horror efforts] Malignant. Which I've heard encouraging things about from people I can trust / knowing they would never give The Conjuring or Saw franchises any sort of pass or benefit of doubt. But based on the toxicity of both of those franchises, plus how dreadful - surprisingly awful - Dead Silence was, I do not think I will ever forgive James Wan. Or: frankly? Wan's frequent collaborator, Leigh Whannell. Who did in fact direct a version of The Invisible Man I found superior to the James Whale film. Maybe I should just re-watch the James Whale film, though. I'd expect I was wrong about James Whale more readily than accepting I might have been right about Leigh Whannell doing something good...
