It’s a good movie, I guess. However, the merger of the old and new casts felt like blatantly-obvious franchise building, and the excess of characters didn’t really add anything new or compelling to the plot, which is what shined in the first two movies. The first movie, in particular, was about putting on a 2-hour twisty magic show that blows your mind. This third movie, by contrast, never wowed me. By the time it ended, I was thinking, “Is that all you got?” Rosamund Pike’s exotic accent, however, impressed me. I don’t know what a real South African accent sounds like, but her delivery felt totally committed. Big stars often attempt foreign accents and fail miserably to maintain it throughout the production. Also, Justice Smith having previously played an overly-apologetic wizard in Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves is kinda funny. I think there's still room for a 4th movie to outdo the first three. It's also possible that the 3rd movie was actually a "Part I" setup for the "Part II" finale. Who knows. Also... did Thaddeus actually die, or was that a misdirect? Hmmm.
