Hey! I've been a little lazy and I guess also busy to make more blogs and sketch vs finished pictures gifs, but I guess some people liked at least part of it, so I decided to take the time to export and compile the sketches of the episode so far.
I just wanted to write a little about the experience of this episode, and what was in my head while writing this part of the story.
the "control" part has always been on my mind since I decided to continue this story in Legacy, I was very interested in the conditioning seen in Dune back then, and I figured that it would be a really cool thing to implement it in my own way in the story, since the xenos are biological creatures that are so prone to fail as they're also self-aware, these humans should find ways to control them if they ever want them to be of any use (I also decided "control mind chips" were a cheap resource, and Derideal themes dwell more around biology and psychology, more than coming up with fantastic tech).
we're also seeing Dr. Orozco breaking apart despite her "cold" facade, she's been damaging herself as she continued with the Consortium director's plans.
still, the Director is satisfied with her progress, enough to remove her and let her take Laura with her, he doesn't care anymore as long as he controls the perfected conditioning protocols.
There's also a clear indication that Orozco merely "patched" her way into getting access to Laura, by just keeping Ivory and Alpha barely in check, also clearly left them unattended... her focus it's been a lot in Laura.
I just thought it was interesting... that the only reason Alpha and Ivory didn't questioned much their masters before, was due Daniel being somewhat nice to them, he really ended up caring for the xenos. Without him... Alpha and Ivory being alone have been suffering in different ways, but this has also finally pushed them to different thinking, specially for Alpha who's just been so focusing in remembering about Laura that he's finally decided to find her or just find more information. Before this, Daniel was basically keeping them on track and centered, with just small talks and such (half truths, half lies etc as seen in previous episodes).
I guess the story has surely sided most of the resolution with the Laura's main-story by going sides with Ivory's and Alpha's experiences between each other and the Consortium... which just shows how little planned the story was at first, I mean, I really lacked experience to keep showing clues and things about the main storyline during that time, or I thought I did, but probably wasn't enough, it made some people to think the part 1 of the story was really behind and forgotten about.
