In the original Paladin tell Aden they'll be safe if they follow him.

Aden believes him mostly because he hasn't seen him in the dreams.

This version of Paladin is a little closer to his real personality afterward in the comic, he's sort of a harsh person.

Same thing happen with Paladin about Aden and Laura and just want them to hurt the Consortium (which was the only reason he took Aden and Laura in the original)

I think in this version of the comic, Paladin doesn't sound too convincing and you could probably tell he's lying to just get out quickly.

that's also part of the reason he doesn't show up much in the Derideal Legacy, and it's mostly Andrea and Andrés, the characters that sort of cared more about the xeno critters... meanwhile Paladin was mostly thinking training Aden to fight, to the point he was willing to kill him in order to see him go berserk.
