XEN - first notes

I found these notes. idk I have uploaded them here, but I'll share them because they're a curious thing.

I made this to explain Gaff what was XEN about, and how the setting worked. I ended up using some of this info for the XEN concept pages at the beginning of the comic.

NOTE: these might have lots of typos as it was meant for personal use.

In the Xeno Experiments Nova universe Earth is divided and organized in the following way:

Different animal enhanced species have learn to live together and maintained most of the work skills Humans taught so their work in society is mostly determined by that.

They're ranked in some sort of royal hierarchy, this means sort of like emperor, duke, counts and such, military ranks are also some sort of royal title under those ones. 

Despite this royal like organization, and the fact there is an emperor clan (First clan - felines) they have a big council where the highest rank members of each clan take decisions together, so having an emperor is mostly about the need of having a moderator among them (plus the First clan need to be acknowledge as the original leaders) 

Before this organization it it's know that when the human creators disappeared from earth, or the last ones died, the Xenos weren't as ready to survive on their own in the surface so most of them died by starvation and due the inability to reproduce (original Xenos have genes deactivated that doesn't allow them to express key hormones for reproduction). Most Xenos today descend from faulty Xenos who survived an ancient place they called The Void, among other faulty Xenos who were at the surface, who had a bit more of a free will and personality to survive without humans, their faulty cloning process made them evolve with time and allowed them to bypass their reproduction suppression genes (there's a lot of tales about these times, mostly believe the firsts Alpha genes from each clan allowed them to evolve, the feline clan says it was thanks to their own primarch)

During these trouble times, some of the weakest Xeno species suffered, since with no organization the Feline and Canine clans fought over dominance, and since they weren't a specie known for harvesting or used to produce their own food, after the human supplies ran out, some Xenos followed their natural instincts to hunt and eat other xeno species.

Exigus, Dirima and Dextra Xenos stayed apart from this conflict, but later on they were involved when the human food supply ran out and they became "food" from the dog and feline clans.

The Exi and the Helpers -rodents and herbivore type of xenos (sheep,etc)- clans where decimated in population and captured by the felines and dog races.

the Divided (Dirima) -Lizard species- abandoned earth in a desperate attempt to survive these dark times (they do survived and colonized another planet where they evolved differently from the Xenos, so they aren't part of the original organization)

The Exi -rodent- clan was the one more decimated, as they tried to resist against the felines and guardian clan, the feline clan was specially cruel with the rodents hunting them down easily and captured most of their colonies as food and engineer supply for their own war. Since these times the Exi clan distrust the feline clan. Most of the Helper clan managed to survive offering their medical help on both sides, so they weren't affected as much as the Exi.

After a long war, some Xenos from each race decided that peace was a necessity ,as their every clan number was getting real low, and the inability to reproduction didn't allowed them to restore their soldiers, after the war stopped and Xenos managed to divide their task in a common society their own genetic capabilities allowed them to evolve past human control.

Despite hundreds of years passed from these trouble times, some of the race conflicts and hates are still present in the current Xeno society, as a measure to maintain peace there are usually important members of the different races traded between them and even "raised" by the other clan, let's say a high rank dog could have been traded by a high rank feline and both raised inside their different clan origin, as some sort of alliance, Xeno clan have their tradition as peace symbol, beside having ambassadors inside other clan domains. 

Currently, Xenos aren't many in numbers, so most of the planet isn't populated.

First Clan [Felines]

They claim to come from the original Alpha Xenos, according to records the first Alpha (Adres) was the blueprint from where every Xeno feline was crated, they say the Alpha was truly free from the Human influence, they believe the Alpha disappeared for some reason but he transcended giving the First clan the capability of reproduction (Before that most Xenos were sterile)

there are different versions about how this happened, but the First Clan felines feel very proud of their origin and feel sometimes a bit superior over the other races [All this know due lore and some human archives]

This clan function in Xeno Society is mostly politics and royalty, most of the feline clan members are ranked high in society hierarchy, sort of high class citizens, they live a bit separated from the other Xenos and the planet zones controlled by them are very difficult to access if you were not born there.

They are organized as the following:

A big palace where the highest ranks are located, also there are soldier barracks and training grounds included in these areas, the logic is a bit like a castle organization, where most of the common population houses are located inside the palace walls, and the housing locations are separated by rank, their cities are a very closed compared to other xeno communities as they tend to isolate themselves.

The First Clan is commonly known for:

-their culture is a bit militaristic and reminds a bit of secret organization.

-Use of stealth tactics, sniper and assassin themed soldiers.

-Color gray and purple in uniforms

-tendency to work alone and cooperate less with the other clans

-Be very secretive about their doings, so the other races feel they're always hiding something.

Guardian Clan [Canine]

The canine clans are the strongest in term of brute force and numbers, they aren't specially hostile against other races, so they tend to cooperate with other races, the interesting fact about this Xeno race is that they still believe humans will return someday, and they feel compelled to serve them, despite other races being proud of their freedom from human control, the Guardian clan things the humans left and put the Xenos in guard of the planet until their return, they have a strong sense of loyalty. Most of the other clans doesn't understand this idea much, so they haven't put much attention to this clan's ideas about humans, the Guardian clan doesn't interfere in any way with the other clans, but they're known to investigate further human culture and search for lost human archives, usually with help of the Exi clans who are also very interested in the hidden knowledge and history.

They are organized like this:

The Guardian clan are mostly soldiers and their society is organized almost as humans, having just a high ranked family that descend from their original primarchs, but also other families living cities organized in a similar fashion to humans. There's still a palace where their royal members live. They respect the society rules but doesn't like other clans to mess with their own clan-internal affairs.

The royal family is sort of a big deal for the Guardian clan, and all of their members respect them and protects, they're also very famous for having a very powerful Royal Guard.

The Guardian Clan is commonly known for:

-their culture is themed around hard work and servitude for their highest ranked family, sort of like very loyal servants of a king's family.

-Use of brute force tactics, soldiers and tanks for both attack and defense, valuating more a direct attack approach to every situation, they aren't as good in strategy. they also used to work in groups, so they become a bit more cautious working alone.

-Dark Gray and Green uniforms

-Used to cooperate with other clans.

-Despite being very friendly, they're very fearsome when angry.

-Doesn't have much ambitions about building and investigation, they feel more like assembly defenses and maintain their heritage.

Exi Clan [Rodents]

Few in numbers, this clan is still recovering. The Exi clan was spared mostly for being the keepers of most of the human technological knowledge, they didn't had much soldiers so they're quickly training more and more of their members in battle, but still a large part of their population are historians ,technicians and other type of engineers, their economy is centered around of offering tech specialist to maintain the other clan's facilities, they also develop machines and contraptions by other clan requests.

The Exi clan is still very peaceful, so they aren't normally researching for war, their highest ranked family is known for being the first Soldier class the clan had, leading the rest of the Exigus at the times they were hunt down by the First Clan, most Exi still fear and distrust the felines as they were the cruelest of the clan in the old days, despite this they still offer their engineering services and technology requests. 

They are organized like this:

The Exi are organized in big cities, similar as how the Guardian clan is organized, but the Exi are a bit more of a big family despite several ones, their value in society is determined by their skills and knowledge, so their birth rights are important just because they might descent from a particular strong or intelligent Xeno, their High rank family isn't much of a ruler in their Exi society, as they're mostly the only soldier class citizens among them, and currently the only ones who a tendency to sacrifice their intelligence for physical and tactical training, and they used to be very important at the time of war, they maintained the representation in the Xeno council but they doesn't take decisions alone , as they have many counselors about what's better for the Exi's interests. 

The Exi Clan is commonly known for:

-Their're like a big family, value a lot intelligence and knowledge and are organized in big cities divided by investigation and interests, and they tend to share sleeping spaces, being organized in big quarters where everyone kinda knows each other. 

-Use of tactics during battles, they aren't particularly strong and they know it, so they use a lot of gadgets and tactics. They're more fitted for long range battles, and since their soldier force is so low they have a big set of defenses built around their city.

-Red and dark Gray uniforms. White/bluish uniforms their scientist.

-Used to cooperate with other clans.

-They are very friendly with other clans, except with the felines.

-They investigate a lot, and are decided to recover their true story from human ruins, in this effort are usually supported by the Guardian clan.

-They have the strongest defended city in the world, force fields, turrets, cannons emplacements, etc.

-They develop technology for the other races, so most merchants in earth are also from the Exi clan.

Helper Clan [Mostly sheep and deers]

Since human times they were very few in numbers, but very resistant and with a long life span. the Helper clan managed to survive times as their name suggest, Helping other clans, they possess the medical knowledge of humans and they doesn't have a "clan" on their own, their members are scattered among the Guardian, Exi and first clans. They've become sort of their medics and also caretakers, it is very common that the Helpers take care of other race's offsprings and health, in return the other clans offer the Helpers home, food and respect.

The Helper clan doesn't have much ambitions on their own, but they are indeed included in the Xeno Council as a impartial judge. 

They are organized like this:

All of the Helpers are the same in rank and from each other, but they're very important for the other clans, they are usually protected and they decide freely to live with one clan or another. It isn't uncommon that some of the Helper race get very appreciated by the clan royal families and invited to live with them, this is considered a high honor and usually makes the Helper a key asset of the royal family, considered just like another member of the family, sometimes giving them other responsibilities besides medical care or organization.

The Helper Clan is commonly known for:

-They are so few, that most clans desire to have as many Helpers as they can convince.

-Due their common nature, the clan with more helpers are the Exi.

-They doesn't have a uniform color, adopting another clan colors if required.

-Used to cooperate with other clans.

-They are considered to be very brave, despite almost none of them are soldiers.

-They know how to heal other races, and share their knowledge with the other clans, the only clan that have "medics" almost as good as the helpers are the Exi.

-They're usually valuated for other clans, since they usually live with different clans until they find a place they like, they know a lot of each race, included secrets sometimes.
