I feel obligated to mention that there’s a diarrhea plotline with Triss in one of The Witcher books so there must be something to these fantasy writers.

2025-10-12 20:36:49 +0000 UTCI asked my 25yo coworker if he had seen Elfen Lied, with hope to debrief about it. He had. He said he stumbled on it when he was 8. EIGHT! The look on his face and the way he shook his head, I knew I had to leave the conversation there. I will never bring up this show with anyone every again.

2025-10-10 07:25:53 +0000 UTCThis show beckons you like a sirens call to crawl on your belly into your parents' basement. Nihilistic cruelty and violence in an indifferent world that punishes empathy and kindness. Hope you guys weeb enough this week to only leave 10 to 15 minutes to discuss the next episodes.

A man goes to use the restroom and, while relieving himself, is decapitated by a puppet. This causes his head to fall in the toilet where his headless body finishes peeing. I can’t recommend that movie, but it’s a pretty funny kill.

2025-10-09 22:39:34 +0000 UTCI'm really struck by how 95 percent of people in the Elfen Lied universe are utterly evil and have no problem bullying an adorable child or killing a cute little puppy. The other 5 percent are almost too nice and would happily walk up to a blood covered demi-human to give them a big hug because they seemed a little sad. The only middle ground are those "anonymous virgin" scientists who feel a little bit of remorse before they vivisect another teenage mutant girl ... I'm starting to think the writing in this show might not be top notch, guys.

2025-10-09 22:35:13 +0000 UTCIt's interesting to hear Heather bring up season 1 of Naruto as a comparison. I'm currently watching, and episode 11 of Naruto also features kids bullying another kid by trying to kill his dog. They throw it off a pier, then do the same to the kid who can't swim.

2025-10-09 18:41:17 +0000 UTCLucy could’ve been a gamer. She could have been a whole four-stack by herself. A controller in each of her weird psychic hands. Instead, she is a murderer.

2025-10-09 16:55:17 +0000 UTCI know this sounds insane, like I'm trying to find a piece of hay in a stack of needles, but I appreciate that they didn't *show* the puppy being killed. Also, while child death is obviously heinous and terrible, there's some level of catharsis over an amount of justice being served over anyone being cruel to animals, even if in this case it may have been an escalation.
