Torchwood season 2 is much better. They've found their footing. Season 3 is prenominal must watch. I think as a fandom we kind of ignore that season 4 exists. Having said that, Doctor Who is the better show. Playing catch up. OMG this episode is amazing!! Even after all these years my adrenaline is pumping watching this with you.

Personally I do really enjoy your Torchwood reactions (even if I am a bit silent on your channel, and I'm also playing catch up just now). In the least spoilery way I can say it, there's a bit more cross-over in series 2 that I think you might enjoy. I hope you might give it another shot. If not, maybe do keep watching it (in order) even if you don't react to it here. I will just say though, that series 3 of Torchwood is considered by many people to be an amazing piece of sci-fi television, so I hope you at least continue through that (S03 is only 5 episodes).

I wouldn't have shared much more than TheNealDog has already. So yeah, from this point, The Master is now the third of the most recurring villians during Classic, that have been brought onto NuWho. In the form of this titled character, The Master, they do stem from the 70s. There was a character in a late 60's serial story that might have experimented with the prospect of such a villian, first. However, they didn't have the same name, but they were some similarities. During Classic, I think the character's portrayal was a little more clichΓ©d 'arch'. There's a completely non canon comedy special that was made in 1999 before NuWho started, and was written by Moffat. This best parodies those tropes from the Classic series. It's called The Curse of the Fatal Death, and it has a number of well known faces, and pokes fun pretty well at the tropes. It's on you tube and is totally safe to check out if and when you'd like to. https://youtu.be/Do-wDPoC6GM?si=eeHMyKSCDXb_6jDa

Not to mention Murray Gold COOKING with the soundtrack lol

Rach

thank you both for your responses! this is good for me to know how to help people with the different frame rate as well

Emme

the acronym part was truly my favorite, i loved that reveal

Emme

LOL the yana joke was good. as long as they don't spoil anything yet to come or foreshadow anything you can share the fun facts!

Emme

I disagree honestly. Even if she doesn't do reactions she should still watch season 2! Even just post her reaction to the 2 part finale before the end of doctor who series 4.

Killian

This might be a hot take idk, but I legit don't think Torchwood is worth watching. You should watch the recap videos when the community says to. The juice is not worth the squeeze and you'd be better served watching 2X Doctor Who eps a week, that you look forward to more, that gets you caught up quicker for new episodes.

Kara

Install "Video Speed Controller" extension for chrome Set Emme's video to 1.0417 speed (bind this 'Preferred Speed' to a hotkey in settings) Sync episode at start, then 2-3 times per episode This is what I do to match the reaction to BBC iPlayer

Kara

An amazing finale in store, The Master was a great reoccurring villain in the classic series (70s & 80s) and, like the Doctor, regenerated multiple times and is just EVIL!! Derek Jacobi is the sweetest in all his roles and as Prof. Yana he's no different, phenomenal how he switches towards the end.

TheNealDog

"The Master is reborn" Some fun facts can be shared, depends on how much you yana know. (I had to do that πŸ˜†) By this, I will never mean actual spoilers, stuff the show will purposefully tell you in any future episodes.

Daryl

Is this the best executed cliffhanger reveal of all time? Quite possibly imo. It just all lines up so perfectly - the fob watch chain being visible throughout the episode, the name Yana being an acronym... The twist is hidden in plain sight the whole time. Great stuff

Rach

...there may or may not be a 23.986fps copy of the series on a certain sailing boat themed site that syncs up perfectly. But if you can get any copy legit or otherwise playing in VLC you should be able to check the framerate under 'codec information' and sync it up by adjusting the speed if it's different, usually this means setting to 0.96x speed as the common other framerate for Doccy Who is 25fps which is roughly 4% faster.

still watching on hulu i guess ? damn it has a different speed then all the other sources (dvd, amazon prime, blueray are all the same and hulu aint useable here so no way to sync it xD)
