The sun was shining, students were laughing and talking, and the air was filled with the energy of a new school year. Phoebe, however, felt a familiar weight of anxiety pressing down on her. She glanced around at the other students, noticing how effortlessly confident and carefree they seemed.
"Phoebe, you okay?" Cody's voice snapped her out of her thoughts.
"Huh? Oh, yeah. Just... you know, thinking," Phoebe replied, pushing a strand of her chestnut hair behind her ear. Despite her impressive intelligence and remarkable academic record, she often found herself lost in a sea of self-doubt.
Cody, with his easygoing smile and perpetually messy hair, gave her a sideways look. "Thinking about what?"
Phoebe sighed, hugging her textbooks closer to her chest. "It's just... I can't stop overthinking everything. Like, take yesterday for example. I tried talking to this guy in my chemistry class, and I totally messed it up. I got so nervous, I started talking about the molecular structure of water. Who does that?"
Cody chuckled. "Well, you do. But that's not a bad thing, Phoebe. You're smart. Guys should appreciate that."
"But they don't," Phoebe said, her voice tinged with frustration. "I see these other girls, Cody. They don't have to worry about sounding stupid because they never overthink anything. They're just... simple and happy. Sometimes I wish I could be more like them."
Cody stopped walking and turned to face her. "Phoebe, you don't really want to be less intelligent. You're amazing just the way you are. You just need to stop getting in your own head so much. Just be yourself."
Phoebe frowned, looking down at her feet. "But being myself means overthinking and messing things up. I just... I don't know how to stop it."
Cody put a hand on her shoulder, giving it a reassuring squeeze. "You're one of the smartest people I know, Phoebe. And anyone worth your time will see that. Just take a deep breath, relax, and don't be so hard on yourself."
Phoebe's frustration bubbled over, and she turned to Cody with a rare flash of anger in her eyes. "Cody, you just don't get it! I don't want to 'be myself.' I wish I could just be like everybody else, happy to be a brainless bimbo!"
Cody opened his mouth to respond, but before he could say anything, a strange, shimmering light surrounded Phoebe. They both froze, eyes wide with shock and confusion.
Phoebe's brunette hair began to lighten, strands shifting from brown to a gleaming platinum blonde. It grew longer, cascading down her back in thick, luxurious waves. Her body started to change, too. Her already curvy figure became even more pronounced, her hips widening and her chest swelling into an exaggerated hourglass shape that strained against her clothes.
Cody could only watch in stunned silence as Phoebe's transformation continued. Her eyes, once sharp with intelligence, grew softer and more vacant. The confident smile that spread across her face was completely different from the nervous, uncertain expressions she usually wore.
Finally, the light faded, leaving Phoebe standing there, transformed. She blinked a few times, as if adjusting to her new reality, and then looked at Cody with a ditzy, cheerful expression.
"Oh my gosh, Cody!" she giggled, her voice higher and breathier than before. "You're so right! I just need to be my best bimbo self!"
Cody stared at her, still unable to process what had just happened. "Phoebe... what just... how did this happen?"
Phoebe twirled a strand of her platinum blonde hair around her finger and shrugged. "I dunno, but I feel, like, soooo much better now! No more thinking too much or being nervous. This is so much more fun!"
She gave Cody a dazzling, vacant smile and skipped ahead, her movements exaggerated and carefree. Cody, still in shock, watched their friend saunter forwards confidently. Maybe she had a point. She looked good as hell…
