Rogue-Like 1.6h (Ok, getting closer)

- The 'GirlClass' object does not support indexing one
- Some more changes around relationship events so that some that were repeating will not, and they should perform more reliably.
- Some more tweaks to undressing systems to better account for various accessories
- A few small tweaks to how some sprites and animations perform.
-Various little tweaks and bug fixes.
If you do find bugs, please report them to me, either in this thread's comments, or in a direct message. If there's an error message, please include that error message in your post. If there's not an error message, it really helps to have exact wording of dialogue before/after the bug, so I can narrow down the exact scenario being played out.
But what is in version 1.6?
- Wanda is added, with various clothing options, relationship interactions, story content, any sexual interactions that can be done standing up, and hand stuff. What is not included? Her BJ, TJ, doggy, 69, or missionary sex poses or content, and her Halloween content. These will be added in over subsequent updates. You should be able to find her after meeting Betsy.
- Rogue's 69 pose. Like with Betsy and Doreen, this can be accessed by both giving and receiving oral sex several times. You might find some other surprises here. Other girls will be getting a 69 pose in future versions.
- Relationship event system changes. It used to be that all characters would be checked to see if they wanted to do a relationship event (ie confessing love for you, or something like that), every time you moved around anywhere. I made some changes to instead only make this check once per time block, and then activate the event where appropriate. On the player side, this should not be a massive difference, but might hopefully speed scene loading up a bit. It's got a lot of potential to cause trouble though, so let me know if there are characters where you aren't hitting their milestone scenes where you expect to, or you get too many or too few of these scenes relative to previous playthroughs, or any other feedback you might have on these systems.
- You can now buy things in the mall without a girl being present, and gift it to her later.
- I finally figured out how to use a different mechanic to display characters, and have at least partially implemented it. If it works out, I plan to do a bit more, and I'm not sure what difference it might make on your end, but it can simplify some stuff on mine, so I'm very excited. :D Just let me know if you're finding cases where you think a character should be appearing but they aren't, or should be leaving the screen but they aren't or something weird like that. This would mainly apply to standing character sprites, but any graphical glitches could be related.

On one profile after the characters have finished sex and made a mess they automatically clean up when done even if I have ask. In the other profile I have it set to keep and they ask. I started a third profile and it seems like each girl needs to be set? Is it a bug or do you need to set the fluid stay on body part for each girl?

That should have started a normal date sequence, I think. It would help to know what the very first error message to come up was, since that would be closest to the root cause of it.

So she invited you to your room, what was that for, a relationship event of some kind? Or did she just want to hook up? It would be really cool to be able to order a girl to do other stuff that ties into other systems. For example - Order her to wear your cum all day - Order her to wear a particular outfit for the day (with an option to put it together yourself) - Order her to masturbate in public - Order a particular interaction with another girl. Could be anything from girl/girl flirt interactions, to stealing clothes, to psychic fingering, to outright sex if you're that far along I don't think any of this would require new art, but I recognize this would be a big addition even so. That said, I think it could add a lot to the game

Storm does have some real issues when moving from a very "high up" pose to a very "low" pose, where some of her assets can take a noticeable beat to catch up, but they should fall back into sync. I sometimes mess this up though, and add an extra millisecond to one part relative to the others, so that they end up moving further and further apart. Usually I fix this before it releases. :)

I have noticed it on some other character's, but only when my computer is having a fit form the other stuff running in the background. I see it almost all the time on storm, no matter what else my computer is, or isn't, doing in the background.

If they happen to walk in on you (their portrait icon is shown as nearby but they are not on screen when you choose to shower), you are just another girl to them and they will shower alongside you. The only exception is Emma until you meet her after hours. From my experience, there are 2 girls that are fine with hooking up with you from the start, but they are unlocked quite a ways into the girls list (HINT: One was just added and the other is a telepath).

I was just saying that on my end I am making efforts to optimize things where I can, but a lot of the things that slow down the system are just a consequence of how the game operates, and to make them run faster would require the game not as interesting.

If you start out female, they should mostly not consider you romantically until you press the issue or they catch you with other girls. If you start out male, they should notice the switch and comment on it, and decide whether they want to continue in that state. If they don't want to, then you can check back with them later if their stats are better.

2025-01-03 23:25:17 +0000 UTCI'm trying to make what changes I can to speed things up. I made a few changes to this one that I hope helped in some parts, but a 30-40 second delay seems extreme. One major stumbling block is that the more possibilities that the game has to check, the longer that takes, but if you don't check those possibilities, then "things I didn't expect" start to happen, like girls not reacting how you would expect to what's happening around them. It's not really a matter of spending more time on the project, so much as it is figuring out which elements take more time to execute than they're worth. If anyone has any ideas I haven't tried, I'm always open to them.

Personally, I'd be totally fine to skip a month or three of content updates to get code optimized. Failing that ... Well, it's RenPy. RenPy is not anywhere remotely close to a performant game engine. It works best for relatively simple VNs.

It feels like I'm playing at 5 FPS 😭. I really, really love the game itself, especially the wide range of possibilities… I want to continue playing, but unfortunately, in my case, it's unplayable. Also, as a suggestion for the developer, it would be amazing to have an Android version of the game.

Just not sure if there is a trigger there or something that causes her to get dressed when perhaps she shouldn't.

Some things fail to load right, such as the starting backgrounds and Storms initial shadow when you meet her for the first time. Other than those issues, the game seems to function just fine.

In this instance I added and showed Rogue, added and showed Kitty, added and showed Emma, and then added Laura and when I tried to show her, the proximity icon for her disappeared and then I clicked remove and this error popped.

I'll update that in the next build. For this one, yeah, in the first time you'd need to be a guy (or technically to have had some experience as a guy), but after that it should still work. Next build it should work properly.

Game is pretty amazing all things considered. I really love how Wanda was implemented
