I'd draw the line to KPDH from Cat's Eye straight through Powerpuff Girls and Totally Spies. It's strange that a property so music-focused, derives from non-musical properties (though watching any amount of Cat's Eye is a good way to get "Mysterious Girls" stuck in your head for a few weeks). But, this show indirectly shows why, "Idol" shows are steeped in their own Kayfabe. Becoming an idol is typically the be all and end all of the show, the rest is window dressing. That said, Yuu Aida is a noted fan of Idolmaster, and maybe that kind of says it all.
