Considering ADV had already brought out 2 (of what should have been 6) volumes of Mighty Space Miners a couple years before, my bet is that buying up the "deadwood", was packaged into a different license deal (which one I have no guess). Woodhead at Animeigo licensed the first 4 episodes of Shonen Bakugo for a "round up" (to the next 10K) on another license, so it wouldn't shock me if this was something similar.
