Shadow Serenity

55:07 *next to normal voice* SHES NOT THEREEEE

ResTheMess

Something that the show will never actually address or even suggest in any way, but is important and will be more important later: most of the cast is in their late teens to early twenties, but Entrapta is in her early thirties.

Personally, Bow's advice in the steam grotto doesn't register as uncomfy for me cause I know it's just from Bow and Glimmer having a very incomplete understanding of Shadow Weaver's impact on Adora, and especially not knowing she has magic and is very much still an active problem. They think that trauma is firmly behind Adora at that point

Hooded figure in the dog park

YES! I personally really loved e7 because, while Bow and Glimmer are absolutely trying their best, they don't really have any concept of what Adora's life was like besides what they know she lacked-- love, comfort, support, etc. They want to fulfill those needs, but don't realize that safety is the first thing on Adora's hypervigilant mind. None of what they know as wonderful is safe to her yet, and with her paranoia so strong, it can't be comforting yet. I also think Shadow Weaver has one really poignant line that speaks to why Adora's paranoia had to be affirmed this episode: "They do not understand you, just as they did not understand me when I walked among them as Light Spinner." Shadow Weaver was always a darker force and so much more conniving than a world so bright and kind as Etheria could really comprehend. Bow and Glimmer and even Castaspella can't imagine that Adora's concerns could be real because, to them, who could be so evil as to play on someone's fears, make them feel like they're going insane, and try to warp their very mind? Shadow Weaver is too cunning and clever with he villainy in a world where usually, being a villain means saying evil lines from your tank while shooting at civilians, not lifelong grooming and manipulation plays. Still, full respect if this doesn't sell it for you-- I just know that as a hypervigilant survivor, Adora resonated hard with me, and I need the Best Friend Squad to mandate a daily 5 minute cuddle puddle to help this blonde ball of stress calm down and stop stressing that they hate her because she used the wrong fork at dinner or smth

Entrapta is not good or evil she is scientific neutral. What she cares about is advancing knowledge and understanding. Everything else is at best a secondary goal assuming she even thinks about it at all. Like when she wanted to vivisect Adora. She might learn something so why not do it?

Entrapta is Best Girl! Adora, Catra and Shadow Weaver all have such a messy and toxic relationship, and the show is really good about portraying how complicated that can be Personally I’ve always thought the message was more about the importance of believing survivors, taking people fears seriously (even if 9/10 times those fears are paranoia, the 1 time they’re warranted can be devastating) and making people feel safe Bow and Glimmer meant well (and yes, they didn’t think something was going on) but they focused more on Adora feeling relaxed than her feeling safe, dismissing her fears in the process The scene at the end is so important for this, because it’s them meeting her where she is, not just “everything’s safe, just trust us” it’s “we’re here, we have your back, we’ll make it safe” Honestly I really like the episode, even when it makes me uncomfortable, it’s always felt important, not just for the character growth but also for the audience That’s my take on it anyway

Drunk adora arrives!!!

Phoenix Mackenzie

Yeah, none of them(all three) knew that their was a genuine threat and all of them thought it actually was in Adora's head, plus neither bow or glimmer know just how deep/bad the stuff actually is beyond "she did a number on you" which is vague and could mean a lot of things because clearly adora(understandably) hasn't talked/opened up about back in the fright zone/SW

Phoenix Mackenzie

have to disagree with this take, wills love for mike being relegated as just a crush changes the previous seasons in retrospect and the season was very badly written ;-;

monsterpatika

Hell yeah, Entrapta arrives! Yep Mortius is gonna see a lot of theirself in Entrapta (she also could probably benefit from some ADHD medications) Also, Netossa and Castaspella are both from the OG series. There's so many of those kinds of names from Masters of The Universe

BronzeDionysus

I hadn't thought of Shadows of Mystacor that way, but I don't think I agree. Yes, everyone is saying it's okay when it isn't, but no one has any reason to believe it's not okay, except Adora, who has every reason to believe she's wrong about what she's experiencing. As someone living with CPTSD, it kinda just feels like my life: there's always something for me to be paranoid or scared about, but a good 80% of those problems are in my head, and the most helpful thing to get me through moments when I'm consumed by my fears is my support system helping me ground myself. Shadow Weaver banked on the fingerprints she left on Adora's psyche being enough for her to fall back into old habits with just a bit of prompting, but she didn't expect that the power of friendship (if I may be so cheesy) would win out. Adora can remember who she is because of the support her friends provide, even in the midst of a mental attack from master manipulator Shadow Weaver. Adora would not have been able to withstand the attack if her friends had not supported her throughout, despite being wrong about the circumstances. When push comes to shove, Glimmer and Bow are not trying to erase Adora's problems or force her to work through them or ignore them, they're trying to help her process them, and in that moment, none of them knew that there was an external force causing Adora's relapse.

Mortius and I did the same vocal stim of "oh, she's traumatized!" at the exact same time. The time was so exact that I actually had to rewind because I wasn't sure if he had said it as well, I wasn't looking at the screen at that moment. XD

Gabriel the Sorcerer

I completely understand your problems with the messaging in episode 7, I actually never thought about it that way! I’m not sure I fully agree, but I also don’t know if I can fully articulate why I feel that way. So I’m not sure if it’s bias with this being one of my comfort shows, or if I actually have a good defense here lol. I may come back to clarify later when I’ve had more time to think on it, but I think the reason it doesn’t bother me so much is because the writing stressed that nobody was in the wrong here. We know Adora needs to learn how to relax and take care of herself (I don’t think it’s a spoiler to say this is a recurring theme throughout the show), but we also know she has reasons to stay alert. We know Bow and Glimmer love Adora and just want to help her feel safe, and while they said and did all of the right things, they did so at the wrong time. They weren’t wrong to want to try and comfort Adora, but they also should have taken her concerns more seriously instead of writing it off as her being too stressed. It felt like it was less about validating Adora’s fears and more about finding better ways to tackle the threats of Shadow Weaver and the Horde as a team. Don’t panic, take care of yourself, but also listen when your friend is worried that something is off. Especially if we are to look at this as a parallel for how dangerous it can be for someone to leave a toxic environment. Again I don’t know how well I explained that, and it honestly might just be one big cope lol. Totally fine if you disagree with my take on this, but I thought I’d throw in my two cents. I’ll definitely be thinking about it more though. Hope this made sense!

Lindsey

I just finished up rewatching the last season and teared up at a certain scene with Entrapta. I’m not diagnosed with autism (although I’m pretty sure I’m somewhere on the spectrum I just can’t afford any more tests rn -_-), but I am neurodivergent and I relate to her so much. I feel so seen by her character, she is so wonderfully written.

Lindsey

Literally just finished rewatching She-Ra and was sad about there being more show when I saw the notification 😂 Perfect timing. So excited for you to meet Entrapta!! I just know you’ll love her. Also I think someone mentioned it in the comments of the last video, but just to make sure you see it, Entrapta is older than the other main characters. I said they were all in their late teens to early twenties but that’s not quite right. Entrapta is in her late 20s to early 30s.

Lindsey

Huzzah for Drunk Adora!

Callsign-Corgis

Fun fact Entrapta is confirmed by the writers to be on the autism spectrum and they had an autistic writer and storyboard artist who was very involved with the Entrapta’s character development. ❤️

Theirs... 2 worse off the top of my head...

Phoenix Mackenzie

Look I see your exhaustion at "Castaspella" and to that I just have to say; it's a cheesy toy franchise from the 80s, they did not pick those names but they chose to commit to them and by God I respect that decision

D. Sparrow

watching mortius develop ships for entrapta i can't wait for him to see how any potential romantic plots with her end

Tsa

That's now two creators I like taking shots at the byler drama. Good. More. Okay but on a more sincere note 100% agree with your take on that even just as a general statement. The disappointment is understandable and valid, the accusatory crashout less so

D. Sparrow

its ya girl entraptaaa

Tsa

The correct amount of hype for Entrapta. Frankly not even enough but you don't know her yet it's fine

D. Sparrow

I am also excited for more she-ra!! Let's go
