Unused Sketches from the August Poll

Sometimes I preview the ideas for the monthly poll beforehand, and other times I deliberately avoid looking to get fresh ideas. Since ideas tend to flow most easily during first contact, I usually choose the latter approach. However, on the rare occasions when I do preview the ideas, I sketch any artwork that comes to mind then and there so I don't forget it.
Most of the sketches are very rough and small, but there was one that was unusually detailed and went all the way through to the end of the story, so I thought I'd share it with you.
For the release, we've color-coded the characters to make them easier to see.
