Cutting Back On GIFS

Well, it looks like I finally figured out how to burn out my rigs 🤣

I just had to drop a decent chunk of change to replace the motherboard, cooler and processor on my main rig because the heat sink finally gave out. So I'll be cutting back on GIFS as they pretty much had my rigs running nonstop through the week. I'll still do them from time to time, and I'm thinking of replacing the planned Sunday Captions with a rotating set of captions, sequences and gifs. Let me know what you think, and sorry for cutting back on content.

I hope you're having a great week!

Tyler 😄

A very good idea!

Ahh the limits of silicon. Someday they will print circuits and chips on something that can stand up to the surface temperature of the sun and still work just fine, but till then keep a temperature gauge handy to figure out what is troubleshoot where the heat is building up.

I'll definitely look into doing that with my next rig :)

TGTrinity

True, but I only have so many circuits in my house ;D

TGTrinity

Happy to hear it :)

I got a nice new one installed, so hopefully I won't have any more problems too :)

Yeah the coolers they give you with CPU & GPU's are usually only good for light work. That's why I used to upgrade them before I attatched an external water cooler to my tower. I've had no overheating problems since then.

Not a problem, they are fun but not at the expense of your having to replace rigs so often. You give us so much content as it is, I think we'll survive.

With what you get from your fans you can buy like the best computer ever or lots of them no need to cut down hhah

Hi!MyNameIsBimboFkToy

Sorry to hear about the rig blowing up. As far as content goes, I'm getting plenty of content for my contribution. And I would agree with Punarotta, split the CPU processing load between two CPU's.

I'd assume GPU is the limiting factor here? ...can't think CPU being that important - it just needs to be fast enough to keep GPU(s) busy As for 32 core thread ripper - I've personally always preferred dual processor rigs as desktops - so I'd be getting e.g. dual 64 core EPYC. i.e. instead of single HOT cpu, two way COOLER cpus ;)

punarotta

time for a 32 core thread ripper ;)
