The Sex Poll

How's December going for everyone? I hope you're doing well!

I have two different sets of questions today, and both are obviously tied to sex in my comics. The first question is simple enough: How important is sex in a comic? The second is for those who enjoy the sexual content: How much talking do you need in the sex scenes?

Please vote for any number of choices you want, and thanks to everyone who's been participating in these December polls. Your answers help shape this campaign, and to thank you here are some family photos from the most popular comic of the year...

I appreciate your opinion, and thanks for taking the time to share :)

I really love the transformations and the stories, that's the most important for me. The sex is fine but really secondary, I'll be honest, there are too much sex panels overall and it's sometimes a bit annoying. As for the talk, I think it doesn't need to be dirty all the time. And of course, it also depends of the story. Anyway, you are doing an amazing work and it's nice of you to ask for our opinion.

Thanks, you've made some really nice points :)

TGTrinity

I think it depends on what kind of story it is more than anything else: if it is about person coming to terms with personal situation or something else. That also changes how long a scene should be: it is no fun to just jump from start to end directly and too many of these just ruins the thing ("oh, someone ejaculated again"). It takes time to get into mood after all..

Thanks Faye :)

Thanks :)

1: I appreciate that sentiment, but I don't create this art in a vacuum. If this were a pay for what you want it'd be a lot easier to make what simply pleases me, but I want to make sure all my supporters who pay monthly find something they enjoy. 2: Yes, I'm trying to get away from sex for sex's sake. 3: The reason I asked about talking is because there are only so many things people say during sex, so it absolutely becomes repetitive and I don't want that. Thanks for your thoughts as always!

So, maybe some more teases instead of explicit scenes?

TGTrinity

I love stories going primarily about the transformation, not too fast. Stories in which the transformed is ill at ease with the chages en slowly gets comfortable with them. The sex should serve a purpose in the story. If it's just because you feel you need to show nudity, big boobs and hard dicks, that's a turn-off for me personally. Sometimes what is not shown (directly) is much sexier than what is.

1. The usual caveat: It's your art. Create what gives you fulfilment, and makes you want to keep creating. Don't let it just become a ‘commission by loudest voice’ (without the commission), because that will become empty and soulless, and not satisfying for anyone. 2. Having said that, I think graphic sex scenes are not always necessary in transformation stories, because many people are more interested in the transformation. The sex may be one way of symbolising the completeness of the transformation, but it may not be the best or only way. Some of your patrons may only be here for the sex scenes, so you may want to have a token sex scene quite frequently for that section of your audience, but it may not have to be a major part of the comic to have its effect for them. Sometimes, it may only need to be implied if a large part of the story has already involved titillation. I think if the theme of the story involves sex, as a major plot point, then it would be strange not to have sex scenes, but if the major focus is transformation, fish-out-of water, romance, comedy, or a character struggling to adapt to change, then explicit sex scenes may not be necessary. Sometimes, they seem to just be thrown in for the sake of it, like a TV commercial, “And now, a fuck for our sponsors.” 3. As for ‘dirty talk’, I don’t mean to be critical, but a lot of the dialogue your characters say in sex scenes is quite formulaic and repetitive. Often, it devalues the imagery and makes you want to skip over those frames, because it’s just more of the same. Many characters say the same thing and make a public service announcement when they’re climaxing. There’s probably different, more realistic ways to depict that. I think more variety in those depictions, could enhance the appeal of those sequences. It may be a running joke for you, or something you are doing deliberately, but a lot of the dialogue and/or facial expressions your characters make at climax are quite ridiculous. Having said that, we probably all do something like that in reality, so maybe, it’s entirely appropriate. I’m not meaning to be critical, just constructive. I enjoy all of your work, but some scenarios appeal to me more than others, and that’s OK. I’m not here for the pornographic element, but sex is an important symbolic component in some stories, like ‘Analogue’, where a sexual act is the primary instrument of vengeance. Conversely, for another of my favourite stories, ‘Foxy’, sex for the character is a major premise of the story, and I find that story incredibly sexy, but you never had to graphically depict sex to create that effect. It was explicitly represented a couple of times, not graphically, but you probably didn’t even need to include those scenes for the story to have the same effect. I suppose, it depends on what proportion of your audience is here primarily for the sex scenes and how many find them superfluous, as to how often you should include them and how elaborate they should be, but it’s also how much fun and satisfying it is for you to create them, and how much that motivates your desire to keep creating.

I second this!

All those panels spent fucking are inferior, in my view, to those transforming. You capture the ecstatic concept of changing into a woman in a way no one else can. I think most of us following you are enraptured by how you capture our desires. I can find any myriad of ways to see people fucking. Your art hits the notes that is desperately underserved.

I found you through your writing on TGS so I'm ultimately here for the stories. You're stories just so happen to involve a fair amount of sex and nudity and such, which is a lot of fun. If the story calls for lots of sex (Round Robin, Xccubus) then that's good for that one, if not then it didn't need to be forced in. I think most of us here trust your creative direction. As for talking during scenes, it's very natural for some and not for others. If the story or character calls for talking during sex then have at it, but again, it doesn't need to be forced just because some (me) like dirty talk. No matter which way you go I can be certain of one thing, that it's gonna be a hella fun ride along the way!
