Updating You on Cum Vampire Progress
Added 2025-06-13 14:02:17 +0000 UTCHi hello, wonderful people! Thank you for the continued interest. I have responded to most of you but will pull together all my announcements into one place for your parasocial pleasureπ
I am in the middle of a lot of crossroads in life and in the game dev journey:
I am transitioning to manual art. No more AI art going forward. Why? Well...
Manual art made me happy.
Throughout highschool, I spent a lot of time doodling and had good drawing skill for my age range. I remember being happy with the result of my art in those days. I looked at my finished results with pride. Ofc I couldn't draw tiddies because I didn't want to be seen as lewd, but edgy muscly dudes and maps of rome/europe sufficed. I am looking to rekindle this joy and you will all rub your eyeballs on it. So say I!
I don't want to deal with the AI controversy anymore.
I'm not an especially morally upstanding person and still not sure about the ethics of AI art, but I don't wish to hurt so many people with my usage.
AI art wasn't even that good.
Don't get me wrong. It's pretty. It's fast! It's ostensibly cheap. But you don't have fine tuned creative control. And you have to have someone on the payroll to figure it out, because I sure as shit don't want to touch the complexities of the thing and don't have the hardware requirements for it. In the end, it's soooo fucking difficult getting it to do what you want that you end up paying another person to fix it anyway. That is not faster or cheaper (if you're about to correct me on this, feel free but it'll likely go in one ear and out the other. I have made my decision). Or maybe my guy couldn't figure it out. Whatever the case... not worth it.I am planning on streaming!
What better way to keep me on the straight and narrow than a consistent schedule of streaming in which people can shout "Update when?" at me whenever they want? Yes, I wish to stream my game dev journey! Given that the best way to retain viewer attention is to draw rather than write or code, I will have to draw on stream. Yet another reason to dump AI art. This will provide a way of transparently viewing my progress rather than eyeballing my reports with suspicion. And I can steal ideas from viewers! Win/win!
However, I can't stream with my country's shitty single digit mega byte upload speed cap. Therefore...I am moving to another country!
This isn't directly related to the game, but I decided to put this here so you now know about it against your will. Barring the possibility of a meteor landing on my head or bureaucratic mishandling, I am moving out of this dung hole within the year. I won't be able to stream here and [redacted reasons], so I'm getting out. No, I can't divulge where I'm from yet, but soon, I will. All this to say, it's put a lot of stress on me and dealing with the bureaucracy has eaten into my time. I'm sorry for that. I should manage it better than I have. The stream schedule will fix that though. My manual art might not be consistent with the AI model's artstyle!
I know I will lose style points for this, so I'm trying to copy the artstyle... but should I actually do that? Or should I discover my own artstyle? That would mean having to eventually replace all the other art... which I may have to do anyway if I wanna be able to say I culled all the AI from my game. Uncertainty ahead.Update in August or September.
I haven't been pushing for an update all this time. Rather, I've been generating content in a very unfocused way or sharpening my drawing skills or ordering pixel art for random shit. From this day on till 2 months from now, I will move towards an update. Either the start of August or September!Possibility of us rebuilding the game on Godot instead of Renpy.
Renpy is a pain in the ass if you want it to make anything other than a visual novel. I have minigames planned for cum vampire! I sure as shit am not coding that in renpy. Any super coder I know would sooner shoot himself than to work that shit into renpy. Unsure how much time this will take, but obviously, the sooner I get on that, the better. I'll start after the next update, I think.
