British-controlled India was split into India and Pakistan in August 1947, as part of the Indian Independence Act passed the month before. The forced split remains a HUGE part of the national identities of both countries. The split was along a combination of religious and political lines, due to India's Muslim League and Congress Party seemingly unable to come to an agreement on terms for what would be the new independent Indian government. Britain finally said "Screw it, if you can't agree with each other, we'll just separate you into two countries and you can each have the government you want!" That decision was -- typical for colonial powers where their foreign territories were concerned -- disastrous, with Muslims being forced out of the eastern part of the former India into Pakistan, and Hindus being forced out of the western portion into the now-smaller India, all in a short timeframe. (I can't remember exactly what happened to Sikhs, but their population ended up divided between two geographically unconnected regions.) Around 15 million people were forced to race to cross the new borders before the Partition was complete, and there was a LOT of violence. Estimates of persons killed during the partition range from 200,000 to 2 million. The whole thing had a traumatic psychological effect on the national consciousness of India and Pakistan that still persists almost 80 years later (along with and Bangladesh which separated from Pakistan in 1971.) It some ways it's not unlike the European powers creating arbitrary borders for Middle Eastern nations -- Israel became a nation in 1948 and you see how good Arab nations feel about that, or how Israel feels about Gaza. Many decades of European interference is a big part of why there is so much tension and violence there now.

I'm so excited for you as this story unfolds!

I love the character development and story telling of this series. This show certainly got downplayed by some of the racism that exists in Marvel fandom. Such a great series!

I'm really enjoying this show, too. Seems we have--or had??--a little love-battle going on?? Kamala's got the hots for the new boy...white boy got the hots for her--seems kind of obvious, doesn't it? Speaking of whom I guess I can see Bruno's reservations about going to CA...given his maybe-not-so-hidden-as-he-might-think feelings for Kamala. But NOW...is her new love interest really not a he after all??? Is he actually he and his mom in one body??? It WAS just the two of them in the car, wasn't it??? And, yeah, when you think about the bangle and then her seeing what apparently is Kamran's mom--maybe they are related?? DAMN! The way these people keep stringing us along! Keep us needing just one more fix!! Too funny, great show, though. Always leave us wanting more, right?

The Agents interrogating Zoey are from the goverment group Damage Control. We first saw the male agent in Spider-man No Way Home. He was grilling Peter because of the drones that killed Mysterio.

I love how Kamala starts her next day in school with more confidence. She’s finally settled some long overdue scores with everyone. Mr. Wilson is such a funny counselor. I wish I had someone this upbeat when I was in high school over a decade ago. As of now Pakistan doesn’t have Disney Plus yet, but they didn’t want anyone in Pakistan to miss out. So what they did was premiere two episodes per every two weeks in movie theaters. I first heard about the Partition of India in middle school. I don’t remember much, but I know for a fact that we also didn’t really learn much about it to begin with. Even Iman herself admitted that she didn’t know much about the Partition until she started doing her own research prior to filming. Also, Kingo is the Eternal who became an actor after Ajax let him and the others part ways. Little do Kamala and Kamran know that all of the Kingos are one and the same.

Oh, I'm so happy you're watching Ms. Marvel! I don't know when I'll get the chance to watch your reactions (maybe this weekend?) but it makes me happy that I'll have them to look forward to. Ms. Marvel is a great superhero and her show is super cute and sweet!
