Surprised it didn't happen before then tbh, HBK definitely crossed the line with the "Sunny days" comment. If you have a beef with someone, fine, but you don't drag their family into it. Just imagine if HBK went to WCW? Think he would have found himself similar to Bret as they wouldn't know what to do him and Hogan would have kept him out of any title picture. History is what it is now, but living through that rivalry was amazing TV. Both men really wanted to be top of the heap and truly loved what they did but carried themselves completely different

This is a very interesting account of the events leading up to Hartford and shortly after. It seems that Bret was closer to the truth due to other eyewitness accounts being closer to Bret than Shawn. I can only imagine what would’ve happened if Shawn had went to WCW and joined the Wolfpack. There would not have been a Montreal Screwjob and HHH might not have risen up as fast as he did without DX. Definitely explains why HBK worked with Taker during most of the Summer and early Fall of 1997 while the Hart Foundation did their thing with Austin and others.
