Pop culture is annoying, I agree. But on the point of budget for this show, I believe (and correct me if I'm wrong), the animation team behind it is rather small, so I'd guess that's a limiting factor in things like onboarding, probably? Combine that with their goal now of releasing one season a year... It certainly complicates things. Though let's be real here, it's Amazon. They could easily solve any such problems. It's just their penny pinchers want to cheap out where they can; that's definitely the limiting factor here. It sucks because they just don't get how upping the animation would really make this cascade out even more in popularity. Yes, people will watch it no matter what, but well-animated clips and moments spread like wildfire and leave a bigger imprint in people's minds, sometimes for decades. The animation and art style will also be studied, people will replicate it, they will draw more fan art, so on and so forth.
