If your interested there are EX Novels of Re Zero that tells the story of Wilhelm from I think the Demihuman war, part of which you saw in this episode where he was rescued, until I believe roughly when his wife leaves to fight the whale. And it goes really in depth adds a ton of worldbuilding regarding species and such, it was an really interesting read so I would recommend!
