While that was an understandable way to take Shin’s refusal to see Lena there… he actually DID have a reason he said aloud that I think was much more reasonable: he didn’t want to catch up with her on a battlefield, which is… well, not something Shin would have even thought about up until this point. Also… well, due to how the original work was done, Shin couldn’t have met with her face to face before a certain point canonically, and they didn’t want to adjust the canon of that. Perhaps not the best reason, but I think there’s worse justifications to be sure.

2022-09-28 15:24:03 +0000 UTCIf you’re curious as to why or how Lena is there, it’s because the squad has slowly been making their way back to the Republic where the Morpho has situated itself. You can see hints here and there from previous episodes like the ruined flag of San Magnolia, as well as the fallen statue and signs. And that field of Lycoris radiata? The same field Spearhead had previously passed by during episode 9. So in a way, everything has somewhat come full circle. 86 symbolism for you. And with that symbolism, the directing of this episode is probably my favourite just because of the use of those letterboxes, his current mental state, slowly fading away mixed with Voices of the Chord is just *chefs kiss*
