This episode always gets me because Kaie genuinely is such a good person, as has the best outlook for their situation. Most of the 86 hate the Alba regardless of any kindness received from them because of their situation, even though there are good Alba out there, like Lena. Kaie also makes a good point in that not all 86 are good either. She actually experienced DOUBLE the amount of racism as everyone else, being a rarer race among the 86 - so not only did she face discrimination from the Alba, but also from her fellow 86.
This also reminds me of a discussion point from last episode about Anju. Most reactors (yourselves included) think Anju was exiled for some reason because she is also an Alba but for some reason is an 86. This is not true, but hard to distinguish while watching. The characteristics for Alba are silver hair AND silver eyes (except for one particular subrace which has blue-ish silver eyes - notice I say blue-ish and not blue). Anju does have the Alba's silver hair, but look closely at her eyes - they are blue, PURE blue. So she's mixed race. It is not explained in the anime, but both of Anju's parents were Alba, however there was a small strain of another race from a distant ancestor who's racial characteristics (blue eyes) came through in Anju. Just that single difference was enough to classify her as an 86 and be stripped of her rights.

And this is where Lena’s naïve outlook is pretty much crumbled, because as much as she tries to be sorry for the people she loses; tries to empathise, she’s not the one fighting out there and risking her life. She can preach all she wants, but at the end of the day, it’s all talk.
And this episode was very much a reality check for her. Theo isn’t necessarily in the right for going off on her, but you can tell where he comes from. Just taking out on the one person he can, even if she isn’t to blame for the faults of her people.
At the end of the day, she’s a young 16 year old girl in a system that shows ignorance is bliss, as well as surprising her ideals about the 86. Only reason she hasn’t been punished is because of her uncle.
