Harry just made things a thousand times worse for him when his name ends up coming out of the Goblet… first of, he’s publicly said that he’d like to participate and that he didn’t fear the tournament (thanks to that humble brag about the Basilisk…). Secondly, he’s claimed (wrongly of course…) that there are ways to circumvent the age line and he said those lies about throwing your name in from a distance as a joke?? In canon people ended up believing that Harry hadn’t entered his name when they saw how dangerous the tournament was and because Harry had never publicly said he wanted to participate… Here Harry just completely fucked himself. Even if he tries to defend himself “but the throwing-your-name thing didn’t actually work”, the other students will just wave away his excuse, believing he totally found another way. His credibility will be shot! Unless they unmask Crouch publicly, everyone will always believe that Harry is an attention brat and a cheater who just had to participate even though he wasn’t allowed. Which matches because it feels like your Harry LOVES to be the center of the attention. Why is everyone seemingly always “hanging on every word” when he’s talking with Fleur or Cedric? I’m sorry but I really don’t like your Harry. He always has to have a witty comeback, a joke or a barb. People don’t behave like that. Here Harry feels more like an insufferable class clown. There’s more to flirting with girl than constant verbal jousting. But maybe it’s just me. I for sure don’t like this Harry. I’ve had this critic before but humour can be really hit or miss and I don’t find Harry particularly funny. One last complaint, the whole “each school does a little show” was kinda cringe and such a forced way to have Harry display his fantastic skills… I’m sorry but both other schools had several, older students do a show that they had clearly practiced for but for Hogwarts, Dumbledore just calls on Harry and Harry alone, without prior knowledge, to do something even better than Beauxbatons as a fourth year student?!? Of course, I like reading about Harry a good student and a brilliant wizard but this is not the way I enjoy OP!Harry, sorry…
