Upcoming Changes to those using Patreon through the iOS App Store.
Added 2024-08-16 12:24:06 +0000 UTCI don't know if you all have received any notifications, but a few days ago, Patreon sent out emails. Starting November 1st, those using the Patreon App through the iOS App Store will pay 30% more than usual. Apple did this to receive more income, and Patreon had to comply, or their app would be removed from the App Store.
This doesn't affect existing subscribers and will not affect you if you use Patreon through any other means like a Laptop or anything else that doesn't use the Patreon App downloaded through the App Store.
I don't know yet if using the iPhone's Web Browser will affect anything. It should be okay, but I just don't know.
As I said, if you are already a subscriber, this doesn't affect you, but for new subscribers after the First of November, don't use the Patreon App through the App Store.
Thank you all for Supporting me, and I hope you all have a Good Day.

2024-08-17 15:37:33 +0000 UTCIf you subscribe through a PC, then use the app to read/watch the content. I think you should be fine, but I would check just in case after the first of November.

2024-08-17 05:02:00 +0000 UTCOne easy fix is to use Patreon through a web browser, sign in to your account, subscribe to whoever you want, and read or watch their content. This 30% thing works if you use the Patreon App, which was downloaded through the App Store.

2024-08-17 05:01:37 +0000 UTCI’m sure that should be fine since you’re using a different method to sub.
Drinor
2024-08-17 04:57:59 +0000 UTCI’m wondering if we can sub through other means then use the app to access the content. If that is possible then all is good if not then that’s fudged.

2024-08-17 01:39:45 +0000 UTCThat’s only if I pay through iOS app right? Like PayPal is what takes the money not ios so would that effect me I’m clearly dumb and not understanding Is it like their gonna force you to pay through the iOS app or if I pay through PayPal I can by pass that I only use the app to read who I’m subscribed to..

2024-08-17 01:35:19 +0000 UTCThank you for the heads up. This is the first time I've heard about this.

2024-08-17 00:36:23 +0000 UTCSo if we subscribe via a pc then we dont get the 30% increase through the app, even if we still have the app?

2024-08-16 23:46:17 +0000 UTCOkay thanks!
Eva Cole
2024-08-16 20:37:46 +0000 UTCAfter this 30% thing is enforced on the Patreon App in the App Store on November 1st, you should use a different method if you want to subscribe to new people.
Drinor
2024-08-16 19:12:14 +0000 UTCOkay does that mean I should get rid of the app on my phone? Or just only subscribe to new people on my computer from now in
Eva Cole
2024-08-16 19:07:20 +0000 UTCOnly Patreon App downloaded through the App Store. All the other ways of using Patreon are totally fine.
Drinor
2024-08-16 19:05:13 +0000 UTCIs it only apple or Google play store as well? And if I subscribe to any new people should I do it on the computer

2024-08-16 18:07:46 +0000 UTC.... I'm going to remove it from my I-Pad even if the original download and purchases were made on PC. Fuck Apple.
MacArther
2024-08-16 16:24:11 +0000 UTCIf you downloaded the app through the App Store and you are using it on an iPhone or iPad, you will get the extra 30%, but those who are already subscribers are not affected.
Drinor
2024-08-16 16:13:32 +0000 UTCWait, so if I originally got the app on PC and Android (and paid on PC), but have it on my I-Pad am I still getting the Apple shaft?!

2024-08-16 16:03:26 +0000 UTCFuck those greedy cunts

2024-08-16 13:42:06 +0000 UTCI mean it is still possible to subscribe via browser from PC or even if iPhone web browser is compromised you could still use a different browser on iOS. Like Firefox.

2024-08-16 13:34:01 +0000 UTCMaybe Apple is best friends with EA and Activision. Who knows? I hope using the iPhone’s web browser doesn’t cause any trouble.

2024-08-16 13:16:48 +0000 UTCTypical Apple. They're the kings of "Greed is Good" the worthless bastards. Keep chugging Drinor the IoS users will figure something out I'm sure.
