I knew from ep 1 that you just got these characters in a way not a lot of reactors do, and this ep proved that beyond all measure. It’s honestly one of the best episodes of television I’ve ever seen. So many things to love - Shane’s newfound confidence after his talk with Rose, the heavy flirting and enjoyment of each other’s company all All-Star weekend, capped off by maybe my favorite scene from the show, that talk in the hotel room where they FINALLY have the open conversation we’ve been craving for 5 episodes. When Ilya’s walls come down and he starts crying and Shane just holds him…maaannnnnnn, it’s waterworks over here. Every single time. And then they start using first names! And calling instead of only texting! And when Ilya’s world is shaken by his father’s death he doesn’t retreat from this newfound intimacy, he leans on Shane even more. I feel like in other shows there would have been a retreat solely for the drama, and I love that here we don’t have that. Instead we have this incredible monologue in Russian that just develops these characters even further, in ways that we don’t expect but that make complete sense. Then when Shane gets injured…that hospital scene is another one of my favorites because (like you said), Ilya is trying SO HARD to remain calm and composed but the fact that he can’t just shows us how MUCH he loves Shane. And Shane is so free and open with his affection and it’s so so sweet. AND THEN - that finale. Scott coming out and declaring his love for all to see!! And we literally are shown, as the audience, why representation matters, when Ilya is inspired to grab onto happiness with both hands because Scott has shown him his dreams of a life with Shane aren’t impossible. I just, GOD, this show is everything to me 😭😭😭 I’m so excited to watch the finale with you next week.

As someone who works overseas away from my parents and provides for them financially, the saddest part is missing out on the things - not being able to celebrate their birthdays with them, not being able to spend holidays with them, worrying so much whenever they get sick and you cannot be there physically to take care of them. It crashes me every time my parents get sick - i cannot avoid these what ifs in my mind and i know it will kill me if the worst thing happens. Yes, the financial support I provide is very important and it's what keeps them living in a way and that's why I do this, but the cost of it, losing the times I could have spent with them especially knowing they are getting older and older - it's heart breaking.
