Hey guys
Guess what
It's me again xd
The beta 8.7 is here !
But first a bit of an overview
You guys probably don't know, but as a dev you get an early access to new features Pure will get with future updates.
This way we can prepare the filters for these new features.
The beta 8.7 was supposed to come out with the next Pure update, but, I asked Peter himself and he said the Pure update will probably release by the end of the month / beginning of December.
I thought of waiting for the Pure update, but since we have maybe about a month till then, I instead decided on adapting the beta 8.7 to the current Pure version.
Long story short, there were a few features ( honestly very cool, you guys are gonna love it ) that will have to wait since it requires the upcoming version of Pure that you guys don't have yet
Worry not my friends because this mean 2 things
One is that you guys still get an update that will improve the look of the filter quite a bit
And second you already have really cool features waiting for you
Okay, having said that, let's talk update
Tonemapping

The tonemap once again found really good improvements
The tone curve is now better adjusted with many parameters revised for a better result
This lead for a better and more realistic contrast as well as better control of the darker areas
With this tonemapping update there was also included a new option
High Contrast Mode
This option allows for a better contrast making the image pop in a realist way
It also allows users with a lower spec monitor / VR headset to get a lower contrast making for easier visibility, allowing for a better experience for every user
This option will be automatically disabled at night since it would cause excessive contrast in very dark scenarios
Color

The filter now controls colors saturation much better
It uses a feature provided by Pure called pp.luma
This function allows for control of excessive saturation
During the day / night cycle the amount of light changes dramatically and with that the colors will also behave differently
With this function the saturation is much better controlled
You'll find that, with a red car for example, the bodywork will not get oversaturated as the light dims
Recreating what the human eyes actually see
Exposure
The exposure was revamped
Now the exposure uses a custom made logic which will take into account many situations, getting the best exposure values for each scenario
Talking exposure, there was also added a few exposure sliders
These controls the day and night exposure separately for a more tailor made experience
It ensures that the exposure is exactly how you want it to be
On top of that there is also a dedicated photo mode exposure slider
This way you can precisely control the brightness of the photo you are taking, and you can right click it to reset it and keep on playing
Not a small update overall huh ? Xd
And there is already more stuff waiting for you
Hint : maybe there's a few clues in the pp page, can you find them ? 😉
That's everything for now
Hope you like it
And don't forget it !
Share it and Enjoy
