So Jeffrey Dean Morgan had a scheduling commitment and had to drop out of Shameless so the show pivoted to Dermot Mulroney instead. Its a different character but same role in Fionas story essentially. Their relationship is consistently odd so you arent wrong about how weird the vibes are. Yes Ian's expierencing hyper sexuality which is devastating to watch because like you said he is aware of what hes doing but is compelled to do it by his brain and is not really in control of it but aware what hes doing is wrong and its heartbreaking. You are in for a ride here. The one unfortunate thing with this season and future seasons unfortunately is there are a lot of amazing deleted scenes that never made it into the show that had they made it in the show would have helped the understanding of Ian's bipolar ups and downs which is frustrating as a fan of the show seeing those moments were cut out cause they would have explained a lot. As for Lip I personally think this season is where Jeremy Allen White earned his stripes...his acting is about to get cranked up from a 9.5 to a 25 real quick so strap in! So much love to Sheila! Season 5 is top tier...I personally think Season 4 is better (only by the slimmest of margins) but I think Fandom wise Season 5 takes the cake for story line, quality, growth, conflict and overall character development but there is also a lot of heartache cause its Shameless. Oh and Angela (big tip girl)...you've seen her before...briefly but youv'e seen her...if you go back to the what happened last on Shameless clips that will jog your memory!
