one last summer afternoon

summer once again regrettably draws to a close and I am sad. but I wanted to do one more pic. naturally, I can continue drawing pics in any season and will probably do plenty of summer or springtime pics throughout the year, but I feel like I particularly leaned into the season this year while it was actually STILL summer.

I don't think it needs to really be said, but this is a big one! I worked quite a loooong time on this, and the longest portion was just... coloring. my backgrounds are always a little painty/messy, but I tried not to settle for less here. went back several times to edit things just to make sure it looked good.

chip, knave, and duke in the midst of a game of soccer in the park, there's plenty of other boys off screen here but chose to focus on these three for some reason. duke just suddenly slides in out of nowhere and kicks the ball before it can touch the ground, much to their surprise. as you can see, I had a bit of fun with the "effects" in this one. I don't get to explore that stuff too often, so I seized the opportunity. I might've gone overboard, but I did try to restrain myself.
