YELLOWJACKETS EP 5-6 REACTION

YELLOWJACKETS EP 5-6 REACTION

Comments

Jackie's parents are not genuinely happy for Shauna and Jeff. There's definitely a lot of bitterness and shade behind their support, but they do it because of their proximity to Jackie. They were the closest people to her, so in the eyes of the parents, they are the closest thing to Jackie. Thats the only reason why they still keep contact frfr. They're still grieving the loss. Also regarding the show, because there's a dual timeline and they both progress slowly, it's normal to feel uncertain or confused. Its by almost by design. This show definitely relies on delayed gratification. It does get better.

Agreed! A lot of the bad or strange decisions are totally understandable. It does occasionally strain credulity, but I think if you’re in a “just go with it” mindset it’s a fun show. I can see how trying to analyze it would be frustrating though.

My personal takeaway with the Taissa/Shauna moment was more about Shauna had made the decision she didn’t want to keep the baby already, and Taissa was just trying to do what she could in that situation by not letting her go through it alone. I think a lens we have to go through every situation in the wilderness through is they are children, most of them already with trauma, trying to navigate being stuck and starving in the middle of nowhere. It doesn’t justify a lot of the stuff they end up doing while there, but starving for 19 months and thinking about raising a child in that environment is one I can understand. In the adult timeline, again not justifying literally anything, but a lot of situations (for example, Shauna in the first episode) can be understood through the lens of them not maturing past the age when they experienced trauma we can’t imagine for almost 2 years. They’ve never truly been able to get unstuck from the age they were when they crashed there, and they can’t seek therapy for anything since they have to keep everything secret for all of their protection.

No i didn't catch that in the next episode. However I will add watching a portrayal of an underage girl grab for a grown man's morning wood is ALOT for me to process. I was so confused I did not even realize that was where they were going with that scene initially. It's opposite to a show like let's say the last of us where by the new of the episode the PDF file is killed or jailed or something like that. In this show it seems to be coming up more times than not and without consequence in sight. So it leads me to assume they are romanticizing these aspects to a degree for shock value without them being truly necessary to a characters arc. The other instance I'm talking about is Shauna playing with herself in her daughters room and the camera cuts to her daughters boyfriend. One might say she wasn't looking at him but it is directed in a manner to make it look that way in my humble opinion and when he came over later she's slightly awkward/bothered they made intention to show her reaction to him entering the room and even let him give her a compliment and be flirtatious with her..again just my humble opinion 🙏🏿

the misty & ben thing isn't real! ben said that so misty would stop terrorizing him, she drugged him which is why he threw up and went along with what she was saying, he just wants her to stop, he knows she's dangerous and he's vulnerable to her attacks so in order to protect himself he acted like he agreed with her! (i've not watched ep 6 reaction yet so idk if you picked up on it)

I agree with you 100% about the writing. Sometimes the decisions made have in world explanations - immaturity, stress, peer pressure, trauma, etc… but sometimes they just serve the plot. It’s one of those shows you just kinda have to go with, accept that it’s campy and heightened, and don’t pick apart too much because it breaks the fun. I never vote for it on reaction polls because it’s more of a scream-along shock series and doesn’t hold up well to analysis. Just my opinion!!

Valaree

That is not my complaint. My grievance is the character is making a decision completely opposite then what she was saying at the mid point of the episode. She told her it was not worth risking her life and now shes in the forest helping with the procedure instead of talking her down. I just believe the characters foundational pieces are not structured in a manner that keeps the character true to who they have shown us to be throughout these first few episode. Yellowjackets just may not be the show for me Honestly.

my dude unfortunely a lot of woman in this world have to go through arbotion like that.
