One of my favorite things about this show is the dialogue. It can go from serious, to dramatic to really hilarious! Flint spitting out that pig is one of my favs. I remember also being really confused about vane’s character and not really caring much for him. And then…….

Almost as if the writers decided that they didn't have to try to be a Game of Thrones clone and allowed the story to unfold. I really hope you continue with this series because season 2 goes HAM. It is some of the best story and character writing in all of the television.

And I do understand your cringe feelings about certain scenes.Rewatching it with someone else’s point of view reminds me how crude the show can get. My personal opinion is that nothing happens for no reason most of what you see moves the plot forward (yes even the scene with Max getting saw to by the madam and Anne Bonny in the tent) I don’t believe they just throw things in there for shock value. And yes Jack is the comic relief that we need always 😅
