*Can I be transparent IWTV S2 EP6
Added 2024-10-19 17:38:37 +0000 UTCIs it possible that episode 6 can be my favorite episode and also contain the scene I disagree/hate within the story🤔💭💭💭 ( hates a strong word but I can't think of another i might change that part later)
Comments
Yeah, I agree. Now it's too late they lost their chance. Now we only need a very good bromance.

2024-10-27 10:28:03 +0000 UTCThat’s such a whack book! (By which I don’t mean that it is necessarily bad but that it is a ridiculously wild ride. I still don’t know if I like it or not, soo…) Have fun 😂 And in another life they definitely would have - who knows, they still might (even though I hope they don’t, Louis needs a semi-platonic friendship much more than he needs another person he takes his shirt off for)

2024-10-27 09:44:23 +0000 UTCI'm reading "Tale of the body thief" right now and I'm obsessed. I CAN'T wait to see everything they put in season 3 honestly! And yes, I can see why you question the blood, but then again, it's not what we are suppose to do? Question things? Like... I do question why Louis and Daniel didn't have sex in San Francisco. I mean, look at them. But yes, questions without answers. 🤣
Victoria
2024-10-27 08:38:07 +0000 UTCYeah, I saw that but the longer I thought about it the thinner that seemed to be 😂 Also freezing blood just doesn’t scream alive to me even if that’s how it works but I guess I’m just being nitpicky 🙈😅 While it is really not that important and I have things I’d much rather see in season 3, I hope the expand a little bit on that
Maria
2024-10-27 08:24:15 +0000 UTCSo, do you know when you give blood they keep it freez until they use it on someone else. I think it's kinda like that. You can preserve "alive blood". Obviously it would not be like actual blood from a body, it's not as hot BUT It's still alive. If you pay attention you'll notice they have the blood in a little freezing container before opening it and pour it to Louis bowl. So yes, that is "alive " blood. This has been done in a lot of other vampire media and literature. That's why they say "directly from the farm", clearly the blood in that bag it's been extracted very very close to consumption. The same way Lestat drains his victims and then keep their blood in a decanter 🤣
Victoria
2024-10-27 08:08:04 +0000 UTCSince this discussion I actually have one question which keeps bugging me and the longer I think about it the more it feels like a plot hole, so maybe you guys can come up with something that will make the incessant noise in my head go quiet. The question is as follows, “how is Louis able to consume blood from blood bags? Shouldn‘t that be dead blood as well?” On the one hand I‘m like well, the people who give blood are still alive, so it is not technically dead blood but on the other hand until the blood arrives in front of Louis it hasn’t been in a living body for quite some time, so them technically being alive feels a little thin. And I know they might handle it like the books and then it works but it still kind of bugs me. (And I know the rule around dead blood was always kind of wishy washy and I should just suspend disbelief but my brain won’t stop)
Maria
2024-10-27 07:29:50 +0000 UTCYes that's right, and that's very human because we loooove contradiction! And so, contradicting myself I will say after all those "kind words" I said about him... I love Louis de Pointe du Lac. 🤣
Victoria
2024-10-20 07:59:18 +0000 UTCOh no, I‘m totally with both of you. That was complete unnecessary and solely done to make Daniel cringe. And yes, Louis loves to contradict himself but to give him a moment of grace most people (and vampires) do.
Maria
2024-10-20 07:56:42 +0000 UTCYeah, like. I'm sorry, animals are innocent beings and you are a vampire who is supposed to feed for humans. In that scene of the fox Louis does that to prove a point, this point being that Daniel is a human (he doesn't need animal meat, because we humans DON'T NEED meat) but he eats the rabbit, because he likes it. We eat meat because we can and we enjoy it, so why are we or Daniel repulsed by Louis eating the fox? Because we SEE IT die? But someone kills the chicken we eat in our plates the same way! But see, even so, Louis is here contradicting himself because yes, humans can live, not survive, live, without meat. But he can not live with animal blood, he only survives. That's the reason he still drinks human blood (even if he doesn't kill his victims). So... After all, he is nothing like a human. And yes, leave the cat population in peace or I will slap you sideways, Louis de Pointe du Lac! 🤣
Victoria
2024-10-20 07:29:10 +0000 UTCThank you! ❤❤❤

2024-10-20 04:28:06 +0000 UTCVictoria... I'm sorry if this means somehow my soul is blackened or shriveled or dysfunctional in some way...but why he's gotta strap a live fox to a platter and chomp it at the dinner table while it screams??? Of all the kills, I'm like "not the fox!!!". 😂😭😂. And chill on the cat population while you're at it, Louis! Sorry -- I know I'm supposed to feel worse for the people, but since the vamps can read minds, I gotta assume they are picking azzholz! 😂

2024-10-19 20:15:31 +0000 UTCNow I‘m super curious about your opinions! Would love to hear them if you feel comfortable sharing 😊
Maria
2024-10-19 19:56:31 +0000 UTC@Martin I get what you mean to a certain extent and maybe that was the best or the swiftest way to introduce Madeleine to Claudia's vampirism but they still could have cut the scene away from Madeleine's assault sooner aka it didn't have to go as far as it did.
Maria
2024-10-19 19:52:28 +0000 UTC@Victoria Sadly Louis can't actually kill them swiftly because he can't drink dead blood without poisoning himself and then he would have killed them for nothing because he can't even drink from them. But I get what you mean.
Maria
2024-10-19 19:50:19 +0000 UTCI feel like that’s what’s they needed to do for her to see what Claudia is, that’s just me

2024-10-19 19:45:27 +0000 UTC🚨🚨🚨 CAREFUL (MINOR) SPOILER AHEAD! DON'T READ, TACO🚨🚨🚨 @Melissa Don't worry about it, it might really just be different interpretations. I was referencing mostly to the show but to me it has also always been implied in the books. Of course, there is no sex in the early books but the vampire bite is often equated to it. So during Lestat's captivity in the tower, Magnus regularly drinks Lestat's blood which we could say is SA in and of itself, because Lestat vehemently tells him to let him go and stay away but on top of that Lestat is forced to feel pleasure when Magnus drinks from him (and on top of that he was forced to consume a ridiculous amount of alcohol in a very short time - basically to the point of being comatose - beforehand). Because of all of that and because every time Lestat is clear-headed he feels violated by the act it read to me as SA. Also I have sometimes heard SA survivors describe the experience like that. That they felt pleasure during the violation as a physical reaction to stimulation and afterwards felt disgusted by and ashamed of their own reaction. In some instances, I have even heard that SA survivors questioned if it could even be qualified as a SA if they felt pleasure when it happened. And to me all of that sounded a lot like what happened to Lestat or at least how it was described in the TVL. I think in the show it is much more subtle (at least in S1E6, I think there was a throw-away line that I interpreted that way but that could also just be my book understanding seeping into my viewing of the show canon) but I can imagine that we will get a clearer understanding of the situation in season 3 or whenever Lestat's turning pops up again if the writers are gonna go down that road. They might decide not to go that way after all since they haven't spelt anything out yet.
Maria
2024-10-19 19:37:40 +0000 UTCheeeeey thank you! We want animals to survive, we want people to die! 🤣 Another thing for which I will always resent Louis! Dude, you are a vampire, kill them swiftly if you have to but do it, and leave animals in peace!!! 😭
Victoria
2024-10-19 19:14:41 +0000 UTCI have a lot of opinions on this episode that firmly put me in the minority lolll so that being said I support any and all takes on this one. I can’t wait to hear what you have to say

2024-10-19 19:07:51 +0000 UTCJust wanna echo the sentiments that you guys are expressing here -- well said everyone! ❤ Thank god Madeleine didn't have a pet cuz one of the attackers definitely would have merc'd it! (to squeeze in another trope we are all SICK OF). This show is too good for tropey tripe!

2024-10-19 19:07:32 +0000 UTCAgree, Val! The line from Louis def took me out bc it was unexpected, but what you've elaborated on is exactly how I feel. I do think, though, if you're a book reader, this (Daniel's line) may have another purpose being set up for future seasons?
Melissa
2024-10-19 18:55:16 +0000 UTCThere's no tease hahaha I left it in the comments 🤣🤣

2024-10-19 18:54:31 +0000 UTCMaria, I meant to ask you this before I think on FFs reaction -- is this Lestat callback you're mentioning book Canon or only what they may be suggesting in this series? I'm not disagreeing about the series (though after many views, I did not get that implication regarding SA -- unless it's aligning turning him against his will to SA?) and I def don't remember TVL having SA in Lestat's capture/turning. Am I missing something? Different interpretations? Again, not intended to challenge only to discuss. I'm usually very sensitive to those types of references and scenes, and I forgot to ask you before. Thank you!
Melissa
2024-10-19 18:52:16 +0000 UTCSuch a tease! I'll just go back to watching your Hannibal reaction for episode 3, I'm trying to catch up! But I bet I can guess what part you don't like lol! Can't wait!

2024-10-19 18:43:01 +0000 UTCYou're being painfully tantalizing 🐕🌮! I'm drooling, here!! 😂
ArcAngel
2024-10-19 18:34:21 +0000 UTCI don‘t think Madeleine necessarily would have to have a huge struggle with it because you are right she has lived through a similar trauma before where she was robbed of her physical agency and brutalised by others but I still felt that it should have been a bigger deal than it was. Edit: But sadly I also feel like the SA and fallout were very much historically accurate (correct me if I'm wrong).
Maria
2024-10-19 18:30:15 +0000 UTCWell, I can understand that because Madeline, by probability, already lived another situations like that, seeing that she is been threated like a traitor for quite some time, she's got pretty strong and cold about it and ultimately "nothing happened" because Claudia showed up... So I guess that doesn't seem very off for me, but yes, it was all quite messy, as we said, it wasn't necessary.
Victoria
2024-10-19 18:25:09 +0000 UTCAlso most of the time writers don‘t deal enough with the fall out in my opinion. We at least see Claudia struggle in her own way with what happened but Madeleine‘s attempted SA is completely dropped as soon as Claudia gets Madeleine home and that was actually quite upsetting to me
Maria
2024-10-19 18:17:08 +0000 UTCAbsolutely. It’s a lazy default way to show “this guy is really evil and deserves to die” and/or “our female protagonist has been through a bad trauma” without having to spend a lot of time on dialogue and character building and without making your female character look less pretty with obvious physical damage. It’s wrong and harmful.
Valaree
2024-10-19 18:13:04 +0000 UTCYes, I completely see what you're saying, but, the thing is: why it has to be always sexual with women? They wanted to show they were monsters? Sure. They can be. In another thousand ways other than rape. But with women it's always rape. That's my issue. It's easy. It sells. And yes I know, in real life it's about the same way, but for me, it's wrong to always use it in TV or cinema. I completely get what you're saying and I'm sure that was their intention but I think most of us are tired of seeing the concept of rape being exploit for public reaction.
Victoria
2024-10-19 18:08:19 +0000 UTCThat line is wild work especially coming from Louis, but that isn't the line that I take umbrage with. When Daniel said "Maitre only in the bedroom or when it's hot and convenient" upsets me because it's another form or taking someone's agency the dynamic that they find themselves in does not dictate Armand or anyone else for the matter doing something that they do not want to do. He has every right to say No. It spawned everyone and thier mama to say that because this person said no, they are ultimately Lording thier power.
Valentine
2024-10-19 18:08:03 +0000 UTCI get where you are coming from and I think you said a lot of that already during S1E5 when the assault on Claudia happened. But sadly it is a very present theme in the series as a whole, not just with the female characters but also with e.g. Armand and Lestat as has been hinted in S1E6 (Lestat‘s turning) & S2E4 (Armand‘s backstory). So I feel like you might have to prepare yourself for future instances if you want to stick with the series. And I totally get if that were a dealbreaker
Maria
2024-10-19 17:57:41 +0000 UTCYeeeaaa the goat is back..I don't wanna spoil the reaction but that scene🫠🫠🫠🫠🫠🫠🫠
Raymond Walker
2024-10-19 17:56:13 +0000 UTCI read that you are talking about the Madelaine scene and YES, THANK YOU. I felt exactly the same way. Why women always have to be raped or almost raped for them to get stronger or to make a specific point on their narratives? I was also mad when they did the "Bruce" thing to Claudia so... I'm with you Taco, it wasn't necessary. And get ready because you say episode 6 is your favourite? You are NOT ready for the last two episodes! ❤️🔥
Victoria
2024-10-19 17:54:38 +0000 UTCokay okay!!! So It isn't just me! From the inclusion of that storyline for Claudia and then treatment of it plus Madeline really rubs me the wrong way. I can understand Claudia a bit more particularly showcasing how College isn't always a safe haven for girls but then the added language that the showrunner used " This experience toughens her up" really made it clear to me that they did not have the conclusion I got in mind while writing these scenes. It was entirely unnecessary if they just grabbed her or even stepped towards her it would have been enough to show the danger that Madeline was in.
Valentine
2024-10-19 17:52:35 +0000 UTCYea and the let me me fuck you line from Louis was crazy too..but i tried ti understand that one yall will see..but they did Maddy wrong..even if there is a connection because Claudia was SA'd and Maddy was almost. To me it's cheap🤷🏿♂️im over it in all media
Raymond Walker
2024-10-19 17:51:03 +0000 UTCVal...why tf did they need to include my girl Maddy getting thrown onto a bed and almost raped..like I get it Claudias comes and saves her and it's a moment to show her true nature to her but those guys went from painting windows to full on rape..like what??? Wtf are we doing..I'm just tired of females chcharacters getting that treatment over and over and it being used for "growth"...I go into way more detail in the reaction it really almost ruined the episode for me..but then it turned out to be great smh I was conflicted asf
Raymond Walker
2024-10-19 17:48:25 +0000 UTCAbsolutely! Please We would love to hear what you thought or how you arrived to your dislike of a specific scene. There is a notion/ line that is said in this episode that i have alot to say about but i said mostly on Frank's reaction of it.
