MOVIE POLL
Added 2024-10-16 21:21:11 +0000 UTCComments
HEY! Yes, I'm afraid it is... I personally see everything in original version (with subtitles if I don't know the language) I'm not a fan of seeing foreign movies dubbed, but I can understand your problem with subtitles. Yes, this is a Korean movie, in my opinion great part of its value is in its language and the acting of the actors in it. And it was the best one of the poll, that's why I personally voted for it ๐

2024-10-19 19:56:22 +0000 UTCVictoria...(hello! ๐) I tried to watch Parasite, but it was all subtitles and my eyes can't read an entire movie anymore (unfortunately, I think I've entered the time in life when I need glasses but haven't yet accepted reality and bought some). And then I thought, is it possible I watched the wrong movie? Or did a subtitle movie really win a movie poll? Cuz... dang...this Patreon group is high-brow! Seriously tho I'm kinda impressed. The FoxTaco Patreon taste level is elevated. ๐ But still not 100% sure I watched the right thing? Is that the correct Parasite movie? The Korean subtitled movie?

2024-10-19 19:41:20 +0000 UTCYou made the mistake of watching IWTV before finishing the Star Wars trilogy, and now weโre all forcing you to watch fucked-up shit instead of letting you rescue Han ๐ฃ. I beg you all, let this man watch Return of the Jedi to balance out The Horrors.

2024-10-18 17:02:57 +0000 UTCStill very halloween-ey though with all the ghosts and demons right? Iโm not really a scary movie kind of gal so I love Constantine as an October movie. ๐บ๐ป

2024-10-18 09:17:04 +0000 UTCItโs a John Wick level action movie starring Dev Patel (Who I absolutely love as an actor) Itโs a very fun watch. ^^ Youโre more than welcome. I love making lists like this

2024-10-18 09:15:33 +0000 UTCI love The Hunt for Red October. All those handsome men in uniform! ๐

2024-10-17 22:20:14 +0000 UTCGame of Thrones characters? This is fun...lemme think....he loves Arya, Jon, and he develops quite a hilarious crush on Dany ๐ (understandable!) ... It's probably easier to tell you who he hated! He was NOT a Stannis Stan (thank God!) and definitely doesn't like The Red Woman. He literally threw a dance party when Picelle got murdered. ๐ ๐น ๐ He also threw a party when Arya and Sansa killed Littlefinger...although he appreciated Baelish as a villain. He loves the dragons and is not amused by the excessive Game of Thrones violence against horses. ๐ He did 8 hour long livechat episodes with us (and there's only like 15-20 of us) for the Histories and Lore videos. 8+ hours...and he is in Greece so he stayed up until like 5am Greek time! He answers every question and reads every comment (both in YouTube and Patreon). The downside is, he doesn't pump out content super fast (he works a traditional job, too) but he is very reliable. GoT is at least an episode a week (which I assume would be the same with IWTV or any other series). And, for the Patreon members, the $11 tier each member gets to pick a movie each month! He hasn't seen anything which is older so to date I've recommended The Wolf of Snow Hollow, The Killing Fields, The Matrix, Pulp Fiction, What We Do In the Shadows, The Ring, Trainspotting and Thor: Ragnarock (normally I'm not a super hero movie fan, but I love Taika Watiti's humor)...I am forgetting some...but the point is, he did them all! And never skipped anyone else's suggestions either. Which is great. Everything is on YouTube. Oh gosh, I meant to ask, is there a particular GoT character(s) who you were thinking of? Anyone I didn't mention? My gosh I sound like his publicist! ๐

2024-10-17 19:38:44 +0000 UTCWould be very interested to hear your thoughts on Parasite. I saw it three times in the cinema when it came out and I genuinely think it is an absolute master class of cinematic storytelling. If we're talking Korean movies for the Halloween season, if you haven't seen The Wailing, I highly recommend it!

2024-10-17 18:47:18 +0000 UTCoh way Lis this is fucking amazing. Thank you for this. You and Victoria have mentioned Monkey Man it must really be something.

2024-10-17 16:24:24 +0000 UTCI think it's okay, Taco knows how much we love him and his content, and I don't think he feels threatened by another creator and he SHOULDN'T! This is a trusted open relationship.๐คฃ I will check out his channel! It has some interesting reactions! Let me ask you a question: who are his favourite characters in GOT? Because I will be watching his reactions completely depending on the answer ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ
Victoria
2024-10-17 15:36:06 +0000 UTCIt's not scary in terms of "horror movie scary", it has a strong message but I would say it's more like a thriller/psychological drama with tints of terror.
Victoria
2024-10-17 15:32:46 +0000 UTCI have to see Parasite, apparently! Is it scary?? ๐
ArcAngel
2024-10-17 15:14:46 +0000 UTCOooohhh...Constantine would be great for Halloween too...even though it's more action than scary. Good idea!

2024-10-17 15:09:17 +0000 UTC๐๐๐ I have DEFINITELY mentioned IWTV and he is interested! He is finishing up Game of Thrones (that's how I found him...and his GOT reactions are really great, cant recommend highly enough). And he is Super Cute! ๐ After he finishes GOT (he just finished season 8, episode 4) I'm going to suggest IWTV and mention the wonderful fan base. The reactor's name is GreekGuyReacts. Oh, and he has some great October content (Exorcist, Hereditary, What We Do In the Shadows, Pearl, basically all the A24 movies, and tons of others I can't think of). Should I let you know when he starts IWTV? Is it weird or wrong of me to say that? I don't want to annoy our beloved FoxTaco!
ArcAngel
2024-10-17 14:55:21 +0000 UTCArrival is superb. Not gonna win but you should watch it for yourself bc itโs an incredible โfirst contactโ movie from the director of Dune/2. Nominated for Best Pic, director, screenplay, production design, etc. Parasite looks like the clear audience winner and it won Best Picture for a reason. Shawshank is many peoples fav movie ever made and may likely be one of yours once you see it. Itโs a classic. Silence/Lambs another Best pic Winner that deserves your attention. Hell, theyโre all good. Just watch them all ๐คฃ.
Andre
2024-10-17 12:30:39 +0000 UTCWho is this reactor and is he reacting to IWTV? ๐คฃ

2024-10-17 07:06:43 +0000 UTCJust thinking ... I subscribe to another reactor who is still very much in the early stages of channel building -- most of his videos get maybe 300-700 views. But a few videos have had huge hit appeal....thousands instead of hundreds of views. And I know you said you don't like scary movies of a certain type...but it is Halloween season... and man, both The Exorcist and Hereditary got thousands of views right away on his channel. Sure you don't want to get scared for everyone's amusement? People love to watch that! ๐ It might be good for your channel especially in October. Just a thought...๐ ๐
ArcAngel
2024-10-17 06:51:47 +0000 UTCOoh I know Arrival isn't gonna win, but seriously if you want a really thought provoking film that's a big one!! Also I know you've talked about CPTSD/PTSD, I really recommend the movie Waltz With Bashir. It's an animated documentary by Ari Folman as he tries to recover his memories of the 1982 Lebanon War. I think it's one of the best films to have ever taken on the subject, and one of the most harshly critical of its kind against war, political power, etc. Just puttin' it out there!

2024-10-17 05:17:59 +0000 UTCYup! Shaun of the Dead, then it's Hot Fuzz, then The World's End!

2024-10-17 04:24:13 +0000 UTCYes, Sean of the Dead, then Hot Fuzz...can't remember the last one but it's the only meh one. Hot Fuzz is hilarious. They are all good October movies, too.

2024-10-17 01:45:00 +0000 UTCI will always vote for Shawshank Redemption when listed. Starring many great actors like Morgan Freeman, Tim Robbins, Clancy Brown, Bob Gunton, James Whitmore, and Jeffrey DeMunn. The story is told so masterfully. Written and directed by Frank Darabont, based on the 1982 Stephen King novella. Very realistic setting since it was filmed in a real Ohio prison, adding to the believability of the story. It's an allegory for maintaining one's feeling of self-worth when placed in a hopeless position. Powerful film that is timeless.

2024-10-17 01:42:26 +0000 UTCFunny story: I personally hated Parasite because I thought it was supposed to be the live action version of the anime Parasyte, which does exist. I was a whole hour in like, "Where tf are the aliens?!" ๐

2024-10-16 21:49:40 +0000 UTCI'm going to suggest an amazing movie for the Halloween season, 'What We Do In the Shadows.'. It's a mocumentary about vampires, it's brilliant, it's hilarious, it sticks with the vampire theme. I doubt you'll pick it ...but watch it for your own enjoyment if you can cuz it's so smart and funny -- critically acclaimed -- such a fun time. It was made in 2014 or 15? Have you seen Thor Ragnarok? It's the same writer as wrote Thor Ragnarok. It's so good.

darkparadise.
2024-10-16 21:44:18 +0000 UTCI voted for Shawshank because it's a damn good movie (among many good options). But I specifically voted against SOTL because it might color/bias your viewing of the show. It would be a good movie to watch afterward OR now if you're going into it with the idea of both show and movie being separate non-related entities (if only to see a younger Lawrence F. and Anthony Hopkins' excellently unsettling Hannibal).
Indi500
2024-10-16 21:42:59 +0000 UTCI was going to say wait Silence of the Lambs until after you're done with Hannibal, but thinking back on it I don't think it would spoil anything at all. Plus you might enjoy a few scattered Easter eggs in the show that reference the movie.
