He killed the girl in the field to help Will solve the case, hence him questioning Will about the Minnesota Shrike at his house and asking what made that kill ‘different’ from the others. Hannibal is intrueged by Will. His empathy and understanding is attractive, in the sense that Hannibal is excited by the prospect of someone understanding, truly understanding him.

This is one of my favourite series of all time and when I started IWTV I saw so many similarities with the characters... 2 dudes, 1 girl... The dinamics, characters so well layered that requires a open mind from the viewer, you are perfect for this show and I'm eager to keep watching! ❤️🔥

Like I was like, "this shit is gonna give me nightmares, we are not going there" but now you went there and I have to go with you. It was not as bad (as in nightmare-inducing) as I thought it would be, but that might still change. The cool part about starting a series with you and knowing nothing, is that I can literally say anything that comes to my mind without worrying about spoilers which is a fun new way of watching reaction videos. It's great to see you so invested and hooked right after the first episode while I find it intriguing I'm not quite there yet but I'm enjoying the ride and your commentary so far and am looking forward to what is to come!

Wow, you really pulled a LOT out of this episode and had some incredibly astute and prescient observations (I'm not saying which ones bc I'm not gonna spoil SHIT). I'm very interested to see how your mental health background contributes to your assessment of the show. I think aside from the dark subject matter, there are a couple of noteworthy reasons why there are so many common fans between this and IWTV. 1) There's a lot of similarities in production style; IWTV tends to be a little bit more lavish with it, but they both have very intricate costuming, set design, music design, dense and complex dialogue, unusual cinematography choices, the list goes on. And 2) they both expect the audience to be intelligent and observant - they aren't going to spoon feed you anything and they will not apologize for confusing you if you're not paying attention! Finally I'm going to share my standard piece of advice for new Hannibal viewers: assume everything Hannibal serves is people. Sausage? People. Salad? That dressing's made of people. Beer? Aged that shit in people barrels 😂 Have fun!

Will tells us his theory of the murders in this episode. We never get confirmation, but Will’s pretty good at his job so I trust him. He says that whoever killed the girl in the field (the one mounted on the stag head) was a copycat, NOT the same person who killed the other girls. If you go back and watch the scene in the field Will gives a pretty interesting psychological profile of her killer. If we assume it’s Hannibal based on the jump cut to him cooking lungs, it might give us some insight into what to expect from Hannibal as a character.
