IWTV EP 6 REACTION

IWTV EP 6 REACTION

Comments

Sam should have won 2 Emmy’s same with Jacob but not even a nomination.

tyler garner

Dude I relate to chuckling during those intense moments. Cause it's just a laugh of disbelief and the thought of, "Only this character would say/do that..." I love when characters are monstrous but likeable. Lestat isn't my favorite character, but I can't help but like him. Same goes for a lot of the characters for me in S2. I don't truly hate anyone- they're twisted and evil but so compelling.

Mcryy

This is my second rewatch of the series with you, Taco. Love your style! I really think back on the train scene and I think Lestat stopped Claudia cuz he was trying to protect her in his twisted way. He knew how other vampires would react to her and was worried she’d run into the theatre group, as well. Armand helped to drive Nicky crazy and kill himself so he suspected they’d do the same to Claudia. Armand is super bitter that Lestat left him. It’s also why Lestat came for the trial. He knew Armand and company would kill Louis and Claudia. He would’ve saved both if he had the strength. Can’t wait to watch season 3 with you!

Devon Michelle

I’m rewatching Taco’s IWTV reactions for the third time, but first time on Patreon. You just made this show sound so good, and to know that Taco is reacting to it makes me soooo happy. I can’t wait to watch the show (and then the reactions!!)

Nawal

We see Louis break the only recording in front of Lestat and Antoinette. He also tells Daniel that he’s listening to an inferior re-recording now, suggesting that at some point in time, Lestat re-recorded the song my himself

Nawal

IS Lestat the greatest manipulator? Man, we have to go on this odyssey if recollection to find out! Lol.

Nicole Soza

I’ve never seen anyone talk about it and idk if that’s because I’m missing something…cuz Daniel doesn’t question him when he’s sitting there listening and it’s only Lestat’s voice but Louis is saying it was Antoinette singing. Then again, Daniel is careful about how often he points out inconsistencies. Also when it’s played in the end credits, it’s only Lestat — these writers do nothing on accident so???

Amanda Hill

That's a good point and I never noticed that. These reactions are pointing out so many details I missed.

Nicole Soza

This is not a spoiler — and it may be a stupid question, but does anyone notice that when Louis is talking in present day about the composition Lestat wrote, only Lestat’s voice is playing, but in his storytelling only Antoinette’s voice plays?

Amanda Hill

Understandable and respect ✌️

Jessie

Hahaha nah you're good Jess..I just try to stay away from labeling people in fandoms it's a personal decision in my observation it breeds toxicity..ive seen some other comment sections on platforms from reactors who label..and it subconsciously makes people feel empowered to shun or shame people..if I wasn't a reactor I wouldn't care much but there is a responsibility here for me to make all feel welcomed..( unless they on some wild shit then they can gtfo 👉🏿🚪)

Raymond Walker

lol well now I feel called-out. I've definitely called them 'Lestans' 😂 no offense to Lestat fans (I'm one), the character is too endearing and charismatic not to love. But some of the defense of him can veer victim-blamey and often spoilery, as you know. The show is too good not to let people experience the journey themselves. Loving watching you enjoy it!

Jessie

In answer to your question about who's a bigger manipulator than Lestat, I'd have to say Hannibal Lecter. Hannibal was my favorite show for a long time before IWTV came out and I'd say they're tied for number one now. I would love to see you react to it! Almost everyone who loves one loves the other, and the creator of that show, Bryan Fuller, took inspiration from Anne Rice and was initially attached to IWTV. In an earlier episode I believe you talked about Lestat being impulsive with regard to reading, and that's certainly the case in many aspects of his character. Yes he's a manipulator, but he's not tremendously logical and methodical about it. He's chaotic, but he's just so powerful that he ends up on top in situations regardless of how poor his planning is!

Amanda Winstead

The reason I subscribed for your IWTV reactions is I love how you think! I'm exactly like you in that regard - these are are characters! Just because you enjoy an actor, a plot, the writing, etc doesn't mean you'd condone or enjoy a real person doing the same things in the real world. I don't really understand why others don't get that either - is it that hard to separate reality from fiction? If I saw someone drop another person from a tall building (for example) I'd be horrified! Enjoying the acting/writing/plot-driving surrounding something similar in a show doesn't change that.

Karen Wood

Whaaaaaat I will do that!!!!

Raymond Walker

You can listen Come To Me on Spotify and Apple Music by the way! It’s a beautiful song 😇

Mary

Finally able to watch with you and thoroughly enjoyed your reaction and comments. I can't add anything more to what others have said here. Just let the ride continue!!

Kim

Oh you're partially the reason why people are even able to find my vidoes..thank you 🥲

Raymond Walker

So I had to subscribe because I’m hooked on your reviews!!! I love all the vampires and I don’t have a favorite. I get defensive of them all but I allow people to take in this story without any influence from me. However hard that may be. I loved when Claudia beat him in the chess game too lol I also loved when Lestat caught her on the train. You’re leaving without saying goodbye…again? lol This writing is so good. I’m going to stop here. I refuse to spoil this for you!! I shared your first video on Reddit. DON’T COME OVER UNTIL YOU’RE FINISHED BOTH SEASONS LOL We have lively discussions and your brain would be a fun addition to have!! No pressure lol

Jackie Owe

It's a typical bratty Lestat move -- they said 'kill her' so he did...technically! 😂

ArcAngel

Did he lie about killing Antoinette? He did 'kill' her. He turned her! 😂 This is one of those 'letter of the law' issues. He didn't destroy her (which is clearly what Claudia wanted) but he did technically kill her. It's one of those half truths which amount to a lie, but if he wants to be pedantic about it, he killed her.

ArcAngel

😂

RH

Yo what is this pfp 🤣🤣

Raymond Walker

as always it’s fuck lestat for me.

RH

That is so cool! Wow they really went all out on meaningful details! I can't think of many other shows that would do something like that. How is it possible that this show is STILL surprising me?

ArcAngel

🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🤌🏿🤌🏿🤌🏿🤌🏿

Raymond Walker

They recreated a historical chess game for the scene where Claudia beats Lestat. The game is called “Polish Immortal”, and it relies on the opponent’s greed blinding them to danger. Claudia sacrifices piece after piece and appears to be losing the entire time, but she is cleverly drawing Lestat into a trap by offering him easily captured pieces. It only works because her opponent underestimates her and assumes she is making bad moves, the strategy would fall apart if he stopped to consider her intentions carefully.

Valaree

Completely fair, and yes I think I'm in a minority of my opinion on Louis it isn't that I dislike the character at all. I actually like him so much I want better for him..and his inability (for the time being) to move forward has made me feel similar to Claudia...I gotta love you from afar because it's just tough to watch you get this low from a personal standpoint..and far as what it means to the story very necessary and in sure there will be alot of pay off in the Finale and S2 but in the moment..I felt like I need to leave this character go to rome..and when you've finally had enough I'll be here to see your uptick

Raymond Walker

I somehow watched this when it dropped, typed my whole comment, never hit post and forgot about it, came back and now I don't remember what most of what I said 🤣 but as always love your commentary and reactions, even when I don't necessarily agree. For example, Louis' depressive state rn just makes me love and feel for him even more. Lestat is a crazy bitch, but his attitude and performance in this episode was SO entertaining to me, like I love him as much as I hate him. Claudia, I just feel SO bad for. These vampires have ruined her life for real. Louis loves her and Lestat does in his own way I'm sure, but at the end of the day she's just been tugged back and forth and used as a toy for them both to cope. She gets her first taste of real freedom and it's snatched away. Also the flashback to young Daniel, Louis and Rashid back in the bar in the 70s is interesting. Love the casting for young Daniel because he really does look just like Eric Bogosian!

sierra's reaction corner

the way you callllllled it about the chess game telling the story. love it 🙂‍↕️

terrestrialbody

This is you. You will hear this song in the next episode. Just listen until the the first ad break. It is absolutely breathtaking. https://youtu.be/8mTiw3TQ2BI?si=bJPUHDpBo4HLPUZW

Yvette

Really enjoyed your reaction and am sorry that something was ruined for you on here, I hope to hell it wasn’t me but that’s too bad that happened

Martin Gage

Claudia and Lestat are so alike that's why they hate each other si much lol and they both want Louis

deedra Mcconis

That's the thing about Louis though. He can never just say things. He could never say I love you to Lestat but now he also can't tell him to leave. He's passive. Just goes a long with whatever. Fun fact: Sam Reid said the only line he ever improvised was when Lestat is telling the story of his turning and he says "I didn't want this". He said he thought it was very important to make that clear, and he knew they were filming it all in one shot so they wouldn't be able to cut it out 😃 Edit: Also, Lestat didn't know about Bruce as it happened. As he said, Louis wouldn't ask her about it so Lestat just picked up Bruce's thoughts now as he still thinks about Claudia.

Kim D

100%

Melissa

I'm ridiculously excited about season two!

ArcAngel

I'll tell you what, it would be almost impossible to live for years with two other people who can talk mind to mind and you are shut out. Especially when you are in love with one of them and the other one is trying to sabotage your relationship in any way possible. That dynamic is never gonna work.

ArcAngel

Here's something you haven't addressed (and I've never seen another reactor address it either): In this episode we get to hear a little bit of Lestat's origin story. We don't learn much, but we do learn that Lestat had a big problem with killing people -- he didn't want to and it was very difficult for him. We also know that Louis has those same feelings. Those feelings seem natural and right for a new vampire. The only vampire we have ever seen who has had zero remorse, zero empathy, zero reluctance to kill people is Claudia. But nobody ever seems to hold her to any sort of moral standard. She is the most prolific heartless killer amongst the three. We can give her the excuse of being young at first... but she is 14 at the beginning (not too young to know better, not too young to have morals) and 33 by now. Now at 33, she still has no reluctance to kill. She was even keeping body parts as trophies like a proper psycho. Yet... Everyone seems to give her a pass with no discussion about it. Me included! I wonder why?

ArcAngel

Run goat, run! 😂😭😂

ArcAngel

I love Claudia and Lestat! Their dynamic is literally my favorite of the whole show because they are similar to each other but also really petty, and the acting just elevates that.

RÆY

This episode is so pivotal for both Claudia and Louis and their relationship with one another. You see a real role reversal over time, where Louis was once the protective father figure, Claudia the impulsive child, to current time of this episode where Claudia is almost like a big sister, mothering Louis’ the little brother. She’s his protector now. Lestat really did a number on Louis, although he started to fall apart when Claudia left him. It’s like he has no purpose without the 2 of them, but they can easily survive on their own. I think it’s all been too much for him. Losing Paul, then his family, who again, he lived for and gave him purpose. Then not being suited to vampire life with killing people, Claudia leaving and Lestat, who made him a dependent housewife who he truly loves and also resents, has that vampire bond that makes it hard to leave. I feel sorry for depressed Louis, who doesn’t even have the energy to see life without Lestat, because in his mind, what would his life be?

Dee

Let me rephrase, he has never lied about his love for Louis.

Yvette

The last part of the entry I lost was about the writing. Anne Rice is an incredible writer. The head writer for the show is named Rolin Jones and he weaves her work (literal lines and lines of text) into the scripts along with his own. I think he's done a brilliant job. He's a huge Anne Rice fan and has been for years -- same with Sam Reid who said he read the books as a teenager. When you and FrankFreezy are BOTH done with season 1 & 2, please remind me that I want to add a question/topic about the inspiration behind this novel.

Melissa

Damn. I typed a whole entry and lost it. This is NOT spoiler but a theory. You wondered aloud if Lestat knew what Bruce was doing to Claudia at the time it happened. It is possible, but I've wondered something else. He noted to Louis that Claudia has a darkness around her since she's been back. Could he have found Bruce's voice in the masses and read his mind to know what he had done? I like to think if he did that he destroyed that vile piece of #@#@! Bruce isn't in the books & if any of that happened, it hasn't been revealed, but I've always thought about it.

Melissa

Just wanted to note that Daniel is falling asleep because they gave him his medication, so he's basically drugged and feeling loose. Nice parallel to him meeting Louis in the bar to score drugs. :) San Fran scene happened in 1973, so that was roughly 50 years ago. Rashid looks exactly the same.

Melissa

Respectfully, Lestat is definitely a liar. (And I'm a HUGE Lestat fan.) Just in this one episode, he lied about killing Antoinette.

Melissa

Only one more to go and we move on to season 2.

Yvette

Rashed is there with Louis.

Yvette

😂😂 Grasshopper 😂😂 an ice-cream drink. Cracks me up every time. 😂😂

Yvette

When I was 14 my parents got divorced and I was Claudia to my step mother. Hateful and evil.

Yvette

He loves Louis. Agreed their love is very toxic. He told Louis, I chose you!

Yvette

He is not lying about how he loves Louis.

Yvette

Are talking show Lestat or book Lestat cause in both he is most indeed a liar. Everyone of the characters are except for maybe Daniel

Valentine

He kept fucking around with Antoinette. He is a liar..but I love him regardless...I can't act blind to his acts those my friend 🙏🏿

Raymond Walker

i think the way this episode moves is so fascinating when paralleling louis’ journey with daniel’s. like, louis grows morose and empty because of lestat beating him down emotionally, and daniel grows morose and empty because of his medication infusion. and then just as daniel is reinvigorated by remembering he saw rashid at the gay bar in 1973, louis is reinvigorated by claudia’s plan to murder lestat. the push into action by a new realization that changes everything just when you were starting to slip away. im just jabbering atp, but it’s so cool.

Taylor Manes

I LOVE Lestat!! With all his faults. He is a monster, but he has been truthful about that. Lestat is a lot of things but a liar isn't one of them. I still think Louis is just as responsible for the terrible things that have happen. Please give Lestat a break. 😊

Yvette

Awww thanks 🥹, I appreciate that..thanks for being here

Raymond Walker

your reactions to this show are priceless, friend — as someone who’s read all the books, and seen both seasons of the show more than once, watching your reactions is giving me perspectives on these characters i’ve never even considered. you’re so thoughtful, and insightful!! :D

Taylor Manes

it makes so much sense that lestat hasn’t told claudia and louis anything, because he was never told anything when he was turned. his absent maker turned him into an absent maker in turn. this show really is all about the cycles of abuse, and lestat is the pinnacle of the abuser whose abuse comes from the fact that they’re just parroting what they believe love is!! it’s so sad, and so real.
